Here's a vid of how I broke down my merlin...

When you press it all back together, do you use a hammer as well? I cant imagine you use the hammer to tap it on the coil posts to knock it tightly together….do you just press it together by hand? And could that create a loose re-fit that makes for even bigger problems down the road?

I use a larger punch or a bolt and tap it together on the air hole. NOT on the posts.

I put it back together using 2 sockets, a 3/8 drive on the bottom along with a long 1/4 drive just overtop the air hole on the post base. Tap it lightly to set it straight then tap till it feels solid again.
I'm outta luck with merlin #1, it took 2 days but it seeped again last night not as bad as before but my oring fix don't work. Other than gluing the entire atty solid, I'm out of ideas to try to stop the merlin from seeping so its final fate is going onto the shelf and chalked up as a bad atty with a unfixable factory flaw(thin orings).....bummer cause the merlin vapes like a champ.

Did you post any pics of your wick and coil yet?

I've wicked the merlin 3 different ways. First was with the wicking jammed into the well, seeing the wick in the juice holes...it seeped.
Second was the same technique as the first but had some outside the well so maybe it was dripping off the coil, filling up the other area and seeping down the airflow...it seeped.
Third was not having the wick in the well but ontop so the well was empty and having the JFC only open a little bit...it seeped.
The third way IMO is the best for vape quality. I been wicking attys for over 3 years now and the seeping isn't a wicking or coil issue but a oring and/or not holding vacuum issue. This merlin seeps enough to to go 1/2 inch around the 510 then enough juice to go all the way around the door panel seam of my IPV2 and then leave a square juice ring on my desk, that's a lot of juice seeped just for sitting overnight, it all adds up in time to wasting more juice than the merlin is worth.

On a brighter note. On my last rebuild I broke out my replacement tinted glass to see if I could fix the off centered one that came on it.It was pretty bad hanging over the edge on one side. The replacement fits perfectly so its definitely a QC/Manufacturing issue. If anyone else has this problem try your replacement glass! The tinted one looks pretty good although its a little difficult to see the jfc. I know there was another person on this thread complaining about how worthless jfc's are and I have to say I agree. This Merlin would have been just fine without it imo.Too bad we will never see a V2.:(:-x

Put the dark glass into some scalding hot tap water for a few minutes then with some sorta knife like a olfa blade scrape the black tint off, its just a film coating that's on the outside...Voila, clear glass. :thumb:

I have to ask how much liquid are we talking?
I dunno but to wager a guess I would say 1/4ml, maybe more, maybe less but even at a 1/4ml thats 7.5 mls of juice a month wasted thru seeping, so inside of 6 months I would waste more juice than the atty is worth.

Like Vinnybagodoughnuts, I always wet my cotton before tucking it to the juice cup... and this also allows me to tidy up the cotton so that it never press against or touch the chamber wall when I close up the base with the chimney part. I figure this may be an important factor why some of us never have seeping problem. Just may be...

I couldn't find a 510 screw that fits my Merlin….the screw that came with it now has stripped out threads….so even though the screw is all the way in, my resistance is jumping all over the place.

I guess there was a reason efun was moving these at $16.50…lol.
So, you don't think the fact in your previous posts where you said you overdid it on tightening the 510 may play a role in it?

A little dish soap in the water will help a great deal. I tint windows in my spare time.:)

I think you have me mistaken for someone else I don't wet the wick except to prime it.:)
