So, you don't think the fact in your previous posts where you said you overdid it on tightening the 510 may play a role in it?

I only unscrewed it to have a look when the subject of taking the atty apart came up....2-3 times tops.

I did tighten the screw but with the same force i use on the screws in my kayfuns....was expecting the scews in the merlin to be at par if not better....since my kayfuns are cheap $10 clones.

Can having the screw in there, with the threads stripped affect the resistance readings, in anyone's experience?

I couldn't find a 510 screw that fits my Merlin….the screw that came with it now has stripped out threads….so even though the screw is all the way in, my resistance is jumping all over the place.

I guess there was a reason efun was moving these at $16.50…lol.
Fat Daddy Vapes has replacement M2.5 510 screws that should fit. You might have to cut them to length or spin one in the drill and file down the diameter of the head.

Worth a try, they are halfway down the page on his site.

Been a while since I posted, I figured I'd start here and say I got a Merlin in a trade for some ejuice :D. I've got some back tracking to do in this thread, but I'm loving this thing. Flavor's on par with (if not better than) my serpent, wicking's beautiful, and this thing is STUPID EASY to build on. Right now have a.45 ohm twisted 26ga 316LSS build in it, and it's keeping up great @ 40 - 50 watts.

Put the dark glass into some scalding hot tap water for a few minutes then with some sorta knife like a olfa blade scrape the black tint off, its just a film coating that's on the outside...Voila, clear glass. :thumb:

I dunno but to wager a guess I would say 1/4ml, maybe more, maybe less but even at a 1/4ml thats 7.5 mls of juice a month wasted thru seeping, so inside of 6 months I would waste more juice than the atty is worth.
I didn't like the dark glass. I mean it's cool looking but under some lighting conditions could not see the juice holes without effort. So I switched to the clear replacement tank. Good info.[emoji106]

The best thing about the Merlin is the offset posts for SINGLE COIL building, which I prefer. I have been unable to find another RTA with offset posts. Since I wanted to find a similar but different brand RTA, I did a bunch of research. There are of course many dual coil RTA's out there, many seem built for high wattage, cloud production. Not for me as a restrictive lung or wider airflow MTL vaper, that likes flavor over clouds. I don't like Genesis style tanks, so I excluded that category.

I settled on the new Aromamizer Supreme Lite. Always heard great things about Aromamizer tanks, but didn't like the early versions with the rubber AFC band.

This is also a dual coil build deck, does come with the PLUGS to block juice and air, to build a single coil. But, you can run a single coil in between the posts, and not use the plug!

Unlike the Merlin, there is no top fill cap oring that falls out.

But regardless if you like JFC or not, the way they did it, is amazing. Granted, the juice is routed to the bottom of the Atty, then comes up from the bottom, so they could design a blade type system that closes completely. You can close the JFC, take the build deck out, hold the atty right side up, and no juice comes out.

Sure I wish it had the Merlins offset posts, but there is NO press fittings here, you can take the whole thing apart. If you get tired of tinkering with the leaky Merlin, check out some video reviews of the Aromamizer Supreme Lite, it's the closet thing I could find for the type of vaping I enjoy.

FWIW: I have yet to have any leaking on my black Merlin with notch coil and the rayon wicking, condensation is acceptable as almost all tanks have it in various degrees, but if and when the LEAKY day comes, it goes in the trash. I'll tinker to a degree, but when my hammer comes out, it's not for fixing! :)

I run two Merlin's daily but the Crius Plus has been my goto tank. Excellent flavor, easy to build and the best filling feature I have seen.

I'm running the Quad deck in it now, but the dual deck has a plug for a single coil option if you want.

It's $10 less than what I paid for the Merlin and 100x the RTA.

Offset decks? Ehpro Big Buddha Mini (predates Merlin by a bit, but is more MTL), OBS Ace (a few weeks before Merlin), UD Goblin Mini V3 (just recently).

I'll check those out, thanks. I already had my eye on the Goblin v3, like the single coil build deck choice. Never liked my v2's.

Looked at the OBS Ace, that's an RBA deck, looking to avoid that, I have a lot of RBA decks for my tanks that use prebuilt coils.

@Troll, the plus looks like a 25mm tank, I try not to go beyond 23mm.

These are my own reasons, but make the Merlin deck hard to beat, a 5mm notch coil sits in it perfectly.

The best thing about the Merlin is the offset posts for SINGLE COIL building...

Offset post for single coil build deck appears in:

1. OBS ACE (single hole per post not velocity style)
2. Ehpro Big Buddha Mini (I don't like its juice cup)
3. AUGVAPE MERLIN (MINI ver is under sample production)
4. GEEKVAPE EAGLE (Rebuildable OCC, doubt its durability)
5. GOBLIN V3 (I am ordering)

I am keen to know is there more tanks I can add to the list, if you know one please kindly tell me...

@shawn Hoefar
The Ehpro Big Buddha Mini is a 18mm tank (rather slim), but I can't find an image of its deck through google...

???
I think it is a RTA just like Merlin, the main different is their post, right?

Man, all these terms sometimes confuse me, I always take RBA as a general term use for tank that allows one to replace its coil, in a way Merlin can be called as RBA too.

I just googled it. It's a subohm tank, these days for whatever reason that usually means it uses prebuilt coils, some like this one offer an RBA option, sometimes included. RBA's can often be fine, but as a mostly TC user, it can add extra connection points, not always a good thing.

The Goblin Mini v3 looks like the deck is replaceable, so you can swap dual/single coils. So I would not call that an RBA tank. Believe me out of the current, last year or so, there are few 22-23mm single coil RTA's, and that's why folks like me bought two Merlins, no one knew at the time, they cheaped out with press fit production, and that problems could and have developed.

Think of it this way.
RBA = Rebuildable ATOMIZER. These are used in place of the prebuilt coils.
RTA = Rebuildable TANK atomizer. Here in most cases the DECK is not removable, so it's considered part of the tank.

That's how I see it, and RDTA, can be the stupid one, as most of these are really RTA's, unless they were also designed to be dripped in. In that case I prefer a real:
RDA = Rebuildable DRIPPING atomizer, like my Stumpy.

I call any tank that holds more than 1ml of liquid and has the ability to put a coil and a wick in it an RBA or an RTA. I think RTA had taken over RBA in the last year or so. RDA is still the same...
