I still use one kfl in my rotation. The Merlin is better. Especially since I got the leaking problem figured out.

Glad you got that leaking sorted out. now you can see it was worth the effort. From a flavor perspective, the only tank I now have that edges it out just a bit is well made EHPro Squape R clone. Totally weird design for filling, but the flavor is incredible. It's the kind of tank where I would buy an authentic of if it weren't discontinued. Their newest model has a lot more airflow, I guess to satisfy what they believe the market wants, so I'm not jumping in for that. I like my tight airflow.

So this is a little strange. I posted a few pages back that I dropped my 213 with my Merlin on it and it popped apart at the base. The copper positive pin would not thread back in so I assumed it was stripped from the fall and ordered a new one from subtank supply. The new one had the oblong holes in the deck but round holes in the chimney. I cleaned it and wicked it like I had done with my broken Merlin. Leaked like a sieve. So I took the positive pin from the new one and put it in the old base and everything worked great. I then took the stripped pin and stuck it in the new base just to have it there and it threaded in and tightened! So now I have two working Merlins. Just have to put a coil in the new one now. Thought that was strange.

Just goes to show how even atomizers vary from one person to another, I find all the Squapes except the Xdream marginal at best, I have them all and only one I'll even pick up is the latest. I even have all the various decks including the ceramics, I will admit it isn't too bad with the ceramic, still not nearly at the top of my list though.

I'll give another Thumbs up to the Merlin over the KF5, Kayfun 5 isn't bad, but its not the Merlin. The only other single coil tank I use regularly is the Ubertoot, which I do believe inspired Roxy for the Merlins deck layout, which other then wicking is nearly the same. I've given the 5 a fair chance, and tried quite a few builds in it. Just does not suit me.

Yeah, things are subjective with tanks. I guess in part it might be variations in build, and preference for certain flavors, but there's no doubt there will be differing opinions based on personal preference. At least with the large selection of tanks available folks can find what's the best fit for them. Funny about the Squape, as it seems to stand out so much for my taste. But I do love my Merlin.

Just thought I'd share my thoughts on the Merlin.

Ordered one a few weeks ago and it was v1 with the round juice hols and a very good vape. I was running a twisted Nichrome 80 4mm about 5 wraps around a 3mm bit and coming in at about 0.5ohm. Running it at 30w great flavour, great vapour production. Zero leaks except when I lost the top little black o-ring :grr:

Anyway, thought I'd get another so ordered another and it is the v2 with the larger oblong juice holes. Tried the same build in it and again a good vape.

Thought I'd change my build using SS316l 3mm and now twisting 4 strands, and wrapping around a 3.5mm rod about 5 spaced wraps, coming in at 0.25ohm. and all I can say is holy .... way better. Pushed it up to 35watts and the flavour is amazing.

I can honestly say one of the best vapes I have ever had. Will be ordering a few more as spares.

Can I ask, have many of you Merlin addicts tried it in dual coil? What sort of coils you running it when using two?

Cheers all and happy vaping with the Merlin :rickroll:

I haven't tried dual coil, and I'm not sure what it would add. There will be no additional airflow as in other dual coil setups as the coils are stacked over the same air hole. Not sure it's worth it. I just ordered a tank with a velocity deck that I'll start out with in single coil. If I ever decide to give a dual coil a spin, I'll do it on that tank.
