Metal Smell.....

Hi All,
Received my first Provari (I think there might be more in my future) a few days ago and I was just wondering how long it takes for the metallic smell to dissipate? I love everything about this thing, it is certainly an impressive device and the build quality is second to none. I was thinking of giving it a light cleaning with either metal polish or a baby wipe or something like that but would be very upset if I 'hurt' the finish. It's the satin model, as I am sure that makes a difference.

PS. Does anyone use drip shields on cartos, just because they look bad ...?

I personally use my mini sub tank with my cartos, but since I only use the mini sub when I'm driving around the drip shield is what most people see hehe.

I too noticed that 'metallic' smell when I got my Provari but it went away after a couple of weeks. It wouldn't hurt to wipe it down with wipes in the meantime.

Hmmm.. Neat. Never noticed any smell of my Provari. No smell at all right out of the gate. Could be down to finish choice? Mine being a black satin finish.. Just a thought...

The regular satin finish is just bead blasted stainless steel, so there might be a light coating of machining oil on it. To coat it, they'd have to do a precision clean first, to remove any contaminates and let the finish stick properly. Makes sense that a coated version wouldn't have the same smell a bare one has.

Thanks guys... I figured it was probably a Satin finish only issue, and that it will wear off over time, just hate that smell like I've been counting change on my hands, takes me back to a former (and not fun) career...

Love the mod though, this is only a minor complaint, and my only one!
