Micro Coils to increase Vapor, flavor & TH

Any recomendations on what wire type to invest in next? Ive been usting mostly 28g Kanthal and some .8 ribbon for most of my micro builds. Almost out of 28g and have miles of ribbon left. Recently bought the Hotwires beast mod wires to see what the hype was about. They are surprisingly nice (not sure $25 nice) and the silica that comes with it is some top notch stuff. Looking for a vape close to the hotwires but at the price and quantity of standard wire. Maybe 24g for micros?

im looking to make my next wire purchase. currently the thickest wire i have is 28g kanthal. im looking to dip a little lower seeing how my micros are coming out to just over 1Ω (usually 1.2Ω). i coiled a dual for 0.6Ω and im loving it. but i'd like to get closer to that on my single coil builds. ive got 20A and 30A batts so i can go down under half an ohm, but i'd like to keep it no lower than 0.4Ω - 0.5Ω.

by my calculations, i must be using about 2.5" of 28g kanthal for the resistance im getting. so if i adapt that to the kanthal and nichrome im eyeing, im getting:

0.43Ω 24g kanthal
0.69Ω 26g kanthal

0.34Ω 24g nichrome
0.55Ω 26g nichrome

my question for you guys is if the 24g (or even the 26g) kanthal/nichrome will be too thick to heat up quickly. i mean, i dont mind a 2 second warm up firing, but if its gonna take forever to heat up i'll skip the 24 entirely and just go for 26 kanthal and nichrome.

i know you guys posted photos of thicker gauge builds much earlier in this thread (which look sick btw), i just cant remember if you guys are using 24 or 26 and if it was kanthal or nichrome. any help would be appreciated.

I use 24g kanthal and usually sit around .5-.6 with my Micro single coils.

Dual 24g 10 wraps metered out to .35-.38 when I had them on my rig. It doesnt take long to heat up either, now the cooling down afterwards that is a different story

for 24g, I found something a hair bigger than 1/16, 24 gets so hot that you can outrun the cotton pretty fast when it is concentrated in that small(diameter) of an area

i hadnt thought of that. makes a lot of sense. thanks. i'll look for something a little bigger or perhaps i'll us ethe next drill bit size up which is 5/64 i think. maybe i can find something in between..

ok so i placed my Temco order. i got 26g kanthal, 26g nichrome, and 24g nichrome.
temco must have a serious backlog because the only one in stock was the nichrome 24. kanthal 26 is 11 weeks out 0_o but its all gravy, im sure the nichrome will keep me busy. and then i can always twist/braid/run parallel strands of my 32 for kicks. i need something because my 28g kanthal is dangerously low. i *was* going to get 24g kanthal in addition to the others but that one was the longest wait out of my 4 selections (14 weeks or so) so i nixed it (for now).

This is the only way I have been rocking micro coils for a minute, with dat Detroit Lean(kills throat hit, I'm vapin18mg. not by choice)

24g Nichrome gets crazy low and in a hurry when making duals, make sure you got some 30amp batteries ready or atleast en route with your wire. Enjoy it though and get ready for the heat

True but when were talkin .3 and below that's just too hot! Never sen a vid of anybody takin duals at .3 or below in l-o-n-g drags... Cause that crap hurts!!!! I know by exp. my cap has 2 1/8" air holes!

you need so much air that you can't pull long, completely fill your lungs to capacity in 2-3 seconds flat then you can't take any more in... if your air is slow enough that you can take a long hit you're doing it wrong, lower power is for sipping big power is for a quick big gulp

Going bigger than two 1/8" holes seems beyond me! I personally only go to .6 for my breath bag reasons..,

well maybe 4-5 seconds to fill your lungs but you catch my drift, yeah very high power needs huge air holes or it's gonna be too hot and not pleasant at all

Well your also correct in your prev. post. Depends if your a "hobby" vapor ( like basically we all are, or we wouldn't be in this section) ( let's be real) Based on analogs, were taking on ample amounts of product into our lungs compared to cigs! Question is? Is it ok? I don't want to get too in depth and kill buzz but heat and lungs = bad

Before you put the cotton to that coil, fire it up on your device, let go of the button and use some flat tweezers or needle nose pliers and squeeze that coil to tighten it up better... Fire and compress about 3 times to get it right. It seems to have some gaps in it.

Well I needed to set up a Protank for someone I bowl with.
Didn't see any way to get my magic into that little thing so I tried 1 strand of twisted ribbon.
1.4mm ID, didn't count the turns, came out to 2.5 ohm.
It is darn difficult to get that coil squished in one of these but I finally got it to glow even from center out.



Popped some Hemp through it and tested a bit.
Gurgled so I added a flavor wick to tighten up the holes.
Didn't do much on the Magneto so I popped it on the Zmax.

Both were so happy to have something to do since they are so neglected.

Set it to 8 watts and vaped.
Set it to 10 watts and vaped.
Set it to 11 watts and vaped.
Set it to 12 watts and vaped.
Set back to 10 watts as that seemed decent.

As memory serves me it is better than the 32g round I used to do spaced.
Vapor was very good, taste meh, throat hit virtually non existent.

But the best thing about the whole affair is it makes me appreciate the Reos & RM2 & magic.

Sometimes it might seem like a rut, but it is a good rut.
