Has any found a supplier or company that has tobacco e-juice like or very similar to MFS Turbosmog, Tall Paul, or Red Luck?

Nice touch with the wing nut, will have to add that. Made me laugh though when you whipped out the bic. Damn, forgot to get some erasers. lol First time I watched one of your vids, though, I thought, hey, the super X is a white guy. Do like the coil jig though.

So I am at Michael s right now. Found the jig. $10.99. Asked for music wire.. no clue. What is it used fit abd what department would it be in?

When I went to Michael's I just asked for a wire coiler for jewelry, she took me right to it, tis where I found a nifty tool set for building coils too. They even had Hemp and bamboo string/twine for those who like that. Had more fun shopping at Michael's than I ever did at a vape shop. lmao. Lots of kewl supplies.

Just picked up one of the coil winders that I believe was first posted by Flavored. After watching Super's video, I knew I had to have one.
An 8-32 bolt I had worked perfectly for holding the wire. I cut a piece of 30 gauge Kanthal, attached it to the bolt/washers and held the other end with a hemostat as suggested by someone here and proceeded to wind a tensioned coil.
The result:

A perfect coil first try. Way better than any coil I had ever made before!

Thanks guys.

BTW - I measured the second smallest winder that Artistic Wire says is 1.5mm. My digital calipers put it at .0625 - or 1/16"

Perfect! Easy, ain't it?

Nice man!

I've been using pliers lately to grip the .... out of the kanthal and i also push the mandrel as far as i can in the left (or close to the base's "U" body) so i can tug down hard without the thin 1.5mm rod bending and losing energy.

Try that out if you want some mega tension :p

Yes, super, what he said. I noticed in your video you're holding the wire differently, but you get great results. What I mean is I hold the wire over against the "beam" so that the ever growing coil pushes the rod out while you crank, kinda like packing the coils over against that beam. Plus, you can, indeed, apply whatever tension you want.

Does anyone know if Hobby Lobby would have a similar jig?

I saw a post elsewhere that craft stores sell them as jewelry making devices, which is, I think, the original intent.

Can you show us your method in a video?

This is too funny... err, maybe a bit frustrating, but whatever... I just missed the posts where you guys said you picked yours up from Michael's... I went to Lowe's and bought a bunch of parts to make my own. Would've saved a couple bucks and a bunch of time if I had just went to Michael's and bought one... lol

Oh well. Cool rig regardless!

Yeah, you don't read this thread for a few days and one has hours of reading to catch up, I even ordered some suggested tools before coming to the whole coil wrapping rig page, should of finished my reading first, lol. That and messin with Surper's build height, been kind of busy, lol

Here is a chart that I put together from information that I've gleaned from this thread. Some of my questions were not answered, like where do nano coils end, and where do regular coils begin. Anyway, this chart has a range of 1/32" to 1/8", and I thought I would post this and get feedback on any required corrections. Your input is appreciated!

Great Chart. You know what I would add, and I will do it when i find time: add 12 columns divided into 2. 1st set 28 awg, 2nd set 30 awg.
Each set will contain 8-9-10-11-12-13, 6 columns of wraps. and in the cells we put the resistance. I can get the numbers from the vaper's tool box app. It will take time. But that would be a hell of a chart.

Hey all, just wanted to give another update on my oval coil build....I made another coil with 28 gage, 9 wraps, 1.6 ohm, wicked with cotton. The oval shape is situated vertically about 1.5 mm or so above the air hole in my R91. I have it sitting angled between the two posts, with the wick tails resting on the deck as the original instructions suggest. I have no wicking issues whatsoever, and I can do 3 pulls with no dry hits or burnt taste. I think this is gonna be my regular build from now on until I find something that works better. Great taste, very good vapor production, though I'm not chasing clouds, the vapor production is very good to me. I think my next wick will have a longer tail so I can cross it over the top of the coil. When I changed to the 1.6 ohm coil, I noticed a bit of burnt juice on the top and sides of the coil, so I'm hoping the wick over the top will help reduce that. Otherwise, Im gonna have to clean the coil after every tank. Suggestions anyone??

Yeah find that the vertical works great on the Russian. When I used a single vert, I always threaded the wick between the long leg and coil, and wrapping around the backside of the long leg, kept it cool that way. One of the reasons I went to a dual series vertical build on the Russian is that there is no more long leg to worry about, plus it outperforms the single vertical, a bit more intensive to wrap and set up, but much easier to wick and much more forgiving on the wick densities. I'm vaping my current build at 20 watts and getting a incredible vape, no dry hits, smooth draw, wicks like a champ, and never a gurgle or a leak. Can't wait to get my DNA30 so that I can step it up to 30 watts. lol

With mine, the center of the coil isn't vertical, it's actually horizontal, and its 1.6 ohm, and Im only vaping at 4.2 volts (11 watts), and its great!! Heres an example pic, its from my first one at 1.3 ohm though, now its 1.6 ohm, and situated at an angle between the screws....

OIC, kewl deal, my build is 1.3 ohms and pushing it a tad over 5 volts.

Probably redundant a little with the "what's it used for" question: In what part of Ace Hardware did you find the music wire at? I roamed around in my local branch this past weekend and didn't spot anything that small that would be rigid enough to work. Closest was 1/8" cold steel rod in the bins with other steel for welding projects. Unless your Ace has better metal mojo, I'm wondering if it's somewhere I didn't look.

I think most ACE Hardware stores are privately owned, so they vary in what they carry, but the music wire and various small gauge metal stock is found in bins, near the other hardware stuff like bolts / nuts and washers, but not on the same isle, in my local store it is on the end cap of the next isle down, near the sheet metal and stuff.

There are rods, hollowed out rods, square shapes, all kinds of stuff.

Here your go guys, the Chart O Resistances. I might be off with all the calculations, please feel free to give feedback.

Bill, I used your measurements as they are so that you can append this chart to yours if you like.

Combining the two charts achieved the following:

View attachment Microcoils and Resistance Chart.pdf

A lot of very useful information on a single page. For new rebuilders, like me, the size chart is invaluable. Adding the resistance is iceing on the cake. Thanks. Nice collaboration. Appreciate your input and help!
