Has any found a supplier or company that has tobacco e-juice like or very similar to MFS Turbosmog, Tall Paul, or Red Luck?

Force Meter/Spring Balance, Yellow, 5 kg: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific
I know this can't be very good, but it is affordable for the great unwashed masses (me). My rig is not going to be nearly as accurate and repeatable as yours is so it kinda suites my style. I was thinking it may get me into the ball park at least. what do you think?

Nice catch. Might just order that one now. Probably not that accurate, but for comparisons, it would work fine. Upgrade later! 5 kg is what like 11 pounds? That should be sufficient. That's my only concern that it higher forces can't be measured, but I think that's about twice as high as we can do easily by hand. But not sure....that's why we need a gauge, LOL! Anyway, that's a tiny investment for this project. I think my mounts were more than that! I certainly don't think we'll be able to spend less....Just sayin'...

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has done any experimenting on wire tension?
I managed to break 28 Ga. kanthal at 14 lbs. on a less-than-adequate fish scale (didn't want to brake the trigger pull gauge).
At 2lbs.4 Oz. I get a beautiful coil but it unwraps 1/2 turn with 28 Ga. UN-annealed Kanthal. Anyone have any data?

I think the key is not the breaking point, but at what tension does the mandrel start to bend and deflect? We shall see!

For precise measurements: Tubular Spring Scale - Grams/Newtons: 5000g 50N Yellow - Karter Scientific 219D1: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific. You think?

Here is my favorite, an oldie but goodie, the dibi crack.
IMAG0039.jpg
1.6 mm 5 wraps each side with a 2 mm gap single wick on the deck in all three places.
one of the best.
Looks like its not touching the deck on the left but it is.
P.S. 1.2 ohm.

Looking for some advice here... Set up my igo last night with this post straddling set up... Ohms out at 1.12.... Hits great. However.... See that right leg? Take too long a hot and it glows. I've since wrapped it in a small amount of cotton, but looking for a better fix. Anything I could change on the build to fix that got leg? I realize this is because of length differences with the legs... Short pulls have a nice coil glow inside out, it's just extended button pushes the make the leg light up. 1/16 micro blah blah... Lol
Edit: it's not touching the deck, I know because of the angle it looks like it is, but it's not.

Others seem to have success with that build. I tried it and didn't like the long legs and bends in the wire. It seemed like a short waiting to happen so I scrapped it before I even wicked it.

I just hang right off the side of the posts like this :)

I was gonna do that, but I just BUILT 3 of those coils last night and got bored and adventurous lol. I figured since the igo can be built on either side why not try something new? Maybe someone who uses this build regularly will tell where I went stupid lol
Edit. Maybe a right angle bend where it enters the post? Or a right angle crimp where it leaves the coil? Or both? Shrug. May need to de wick and play tonight

Not new. If you can find them, used ones can be obtained at a bargain....I've seen them. The really old ones are apparently collector items and about the price of new ones, or more. On the short list, but not immediate for me. If you do find something, let us know.

Just checked the prices on eBay for force meters, the cheapest is about 7 times the cost of this entire project. Anybody know of a better price?

You could make one...another project.....lol
Be a scientist: make your own force meter.

I think Sirius named your jig "The Johnson" a couple of posts back:laugh:
