I tried going back to a tube. It's just so... Inconvenient. Meh. $37 to remind myself squonking rules over all

Same here. As a trucker dripping and driving is a disaster waiting to happen. Sqounking on the other hand seems like it was designed with truckers in mind. That and I haven't seen a tube mod yet that comes close to the beauty of an OliverR.[emoji1]

Am I doing it right?

All jokes aside, I recieved the Odin in record speed and upon opening it up and sitting down to build I decided to do vertical coils. I am pleased with the results. I may try horizontal when it needs a rebuild the next time. It has these nice little wire holders for the negative points but I didnt use them this time because I went with vertical setup.

24 awg 8 wraps 3/32"ID metered @ 0.25Ω is a warm, slightly hot vape in the Odin rda. Single Oring tension is good, similar to the Atomic but tighter (not piss you off tight.) I didnt get the Loki Lab Router tip and I am kicking myself but I think I found a happy alternative which I will pick up tomorrow and share. This RDA doesnt have a permenant home yet but I digress. Tomorrow I will be trying some 20 or 22 awg in the Tobh 2.5 and rebuilding the Atomic with 22 awg.

Hi everyone.

I havn't been paying attention to the cotton threads (KGD & Rayon) as I have been satisfied with my normal cotton.

Are they an improvement over normal cotton and does anyone know where I can find some in the UK.

I think I found some KGD on Amazon a while back but they didn't ship to the UK.

Or is there a thread where I can do some homework.

It's not a mind-blowing difference between cotton-balls, and Kho Gen Do, but it does have less taste (most of us know how to wick lightly so there isn't a cotton aftertaste, but every now and then with macro coils, I'll get a hint with "normal" cotton balls, Kho Gen Do doesn't have that taste), BUT the best part to me, is that it comes perfectly fluffy and consistent, you can basically cut off a piece just a smidge wider than your coils, and pull it straight through, and all the strands are running in one direction as well as not tearing as much because it's so consistent. It also expands slightly when wet, which is nice, keeps your wick nice and plump with juice.

Rayon is great too, it doesn't have a flavor, unless you like to run really hot coils like I do (.2 ohms or lower), then the possible dry hit is like vaping a shoelace lol. But it really does wick 2x faster, and has a noticeable flavor improvement (for me, most notably it made my juices sweeter). I really like it for certain builds, but since I'm almost always vaping a pretty darn low ohm build, that heats up super fast, I like the tougher cotton, because it's more hardy.

(I still use organic cotton balls too :D, but only for the clouds under my coil, I use shiseido cotton to run through the coil, because it's just easier, and seems to wick faster than any cotton I've seen yet, it's a magically thirsty wick!)

Go and PM Davetherave, if you flick through the last few pages of the rayon thread you shall find him, he ordered a mammoth size box of rayon and has been giving it away to get all the uk guys interested, ask him to show you the picture of himself holding the box while your at it ;)
As regards the cotton pads go to ebay japan and search for muji cotton pads, there are bleached and unbleached, make sure you get the unbleached, Alwanni put me onto them :)

Thanks slippy_eel

I have ordered some of the muji unbleached from Japan. :)

Tried to PM davetherave but it will not allow sending him PM's anymore for some reason.

Happy that I got the muji though. Is this the same as or similar to the KGD

there's definatly good & bad in both, when i first started out dripping i was using stupid little narrow bore DT's that ment i had to keep taking the cap or DT off to drip, that becomes a chore real fast but so does squonking, i havent squonked for about 4 weeks now & i definatly havent missed it, if you like to sit down and have a proper vape sesh then squonking & waiting for the wick to saturate and excess to drain every toot or so is a royal pita imo
i also found myself using less & less juice in the squonk bottle as time went on & was only putting in 1ml at a time so i could change flavour more often.
now i have widebore DT's that i can drip straight through, its much faster, i now just leave a few differant flavours on the side with caps off ready to drip, i still use minimal amount of wick like i used to with squonking so im constantly dripping but atleast i wont get squonkers finger!
no faffing about cleaning/installing squonk tube and bottle anymore, no stupid juice in places it shouldnt be

overall its quicker, cleaner! i love it!:vapor:

SLIPPY I hear you brother, I just picked up a BCV XXIX and love it even though it isnt a BF. I am dripping more because my main device, just because of battery life, is my Hexohm and using a 6mm bore stright through drip tip makes it easy life with the Quasar.

Modish Metal Works makes some great wide bore drip tips and I like their designs offered in multiple materials. I love my Origen Drip tip for the wide bore but it doesnt mesh well aesthetically with all RDAs. I also purchased some Delrin tips from Signature Tips in the UK and wish I had grabbed some other tips in different materials to save on the shipping.

I still use my REO Grand with the Atomic RDA while driving and look forward to finishing my DNAGrand to show my Cyclone AFC some love in the near future in single coil mode. I am playing around with my VV Grand but I think I might pass it along to my Step Father who is still using my old egos and T3S''s.

I have spent nearly a year exclusively squonking on my Reo but did return to dripping a month ago.

I now use my Reo for driving and when in London 2 or 3 days a week. :)

Home & office I use my Super-t 26500 & Quasar. :)

I only use super-t shorty tips but some of the tips GUK just listed above look nice so gona check them out. :)

Some of Modish Metal Works tips do have a step but it depends on the specific tip, most will still have a 5mm+ bore at the base. I love how some other tips look but when they have a dramatic change between the ID at the top and bottom I notice I start to get a build up of e-liquid from vaping for awhile. It isnt my builds spitting at me, its more condensation build up from the vapor. but with the above mentioned tips I dont experience any of that.

squonking is driver friendly yes but i would think a tank or ce4 type setup to be much safer, you could possibly oversquonk while driving, how would you sort that progressing chain of events out while driving :?: even smoking is dangerous, when the lit end pops off and falls somewhere between your legs.

hey guys, its not only box or palm shape squonkers & tubes for dripping out there, there are also some very nice non squonking palm fitted mechs out there :D
me personnaly would rather a pv that runs two batteries in parallel &/or series than give up the space for the pleasure of squonking.
i still have a vw tube here, i just cant bring myself to use it just becouse its not a mech, apart from the raw power the whole idea of using a mech for me is to eliminate problems of things breaking down or just plain breaking

yeah you'll be happy with it for sure, i havent used KGD, but i think the guys using it were peeling off the outer layers and using the inside cotton, with the muji it seems like the outer edge is exactly the same as the inner cotton so bonus there, i still use muji, i fluctuate between it and rayon every other wick :)
Hopefully Dave will help you out with some rayon, i dropped a msg in the thread for him to show you the size of the box ;)

GUK ive been using they cherry vape cloudchaser DT'S, here in the uk cloud9vapers sell em, once i got use to the slight taper on the outside i now dont even notice it, they look great on anything, you should try if you havent already, music put me onto them, THANKS MUSIC! :D

I never could get used to that taper. I fixed that though. Its amazing what a drill, sandpaper, and a scotchbrite pad will do...

Here's my first parallel micro.
.78 ohm, 1/16th rayon wicked. Had to do something to bring up the warmth on my afc cyclone
gygegeba.jpg

uvupyga6.jpg

Heats up a lot quicker than my .9 single build, but I'm using 30 gauge for this, and each coil is technically like a six wrap, so probably why. You have to be so careful wrapping the parallel to keep them parallel and not get them twisted lol

The flavor, of course, is awesome. Knocking down the ohms awesome brought down the sweetness, which was getting a little cloying with my standard dual micro coil build in this bad boy prior.

Fantastic build Master. How's the rayon treating your juice?

A few days ago talking about my recent exp rayon on another thread I said, I have been comparing build to build with cotton vs rayon. I also mentioned that I have moved to rayon on many atomizers but, is going to be tough for me to ever give cotton up....
Well, today cotton lost another spot to rayon due to its superior wicking. I just can't get over the always drenched wick.
Here is a basic build of a favorite, the GP Heron. Nothing fancy as it was a side by side vape off, lol with a duplicate build with KGD.
Single coil 28ga at 1.0, rayon with 90vg/10pg. The rayon wick that pokes out of the topper Is cut to 2-3mm and contacts V2 fluff in a tank soaked with juice. The Heron is dependant on suspended juice to flow onto the wick.
An incredible atomizer already known for flavor, the result was one the top 2 tanks I have ever vaped in terms of flavor, wicking, juice flow and efficiency.
The wick stays juicy.

I received a PM from the manufacturer (Loki Lab) of the Odin - Craig - basically thanking me for the positive feedback and praise of the Odin

He was also telling me about how he's been testing different sizes and positioning of the feed holes for the upcoming bottom fed Odin. The dude is passionate about his products. I like it. He even grabbed a REO to facilitate his testing. Pretty damn cool I'd say. He was persuaded to venture into the bottom fed version of the atty by another (forum?) called HEM. My praise to the HEMmers :)

Since it's so rare to participate in such interactions, it further amped my enthusiasm for this already venerable RDA - the Odin - I recently purchased.

Figured that was worthy of sharing. :)

Just shot the footage for a video review of the Odin. Now just need to edit and voice over. I put a new build in in the vid - dual 30 ga, 14 ga ID (yes, standard again) net .94 ohms, KGD. Very awesome vape. Much less lag than the 29.

Here's some pix. :)

Great work superx. Your contribution to the vaping community in general and bf community in particular is really great. Many people try and do things but it seems when you do one small thing it is 100% effective all the time. I dunno if you get what I mean but this Odin thing is just great news.

I don't even use bottom feeders and I still end up watching his videos.

I think that's a good sign. ಠ_ಠ
