I hate micro USB s. Am I doing something wrong or is it just the cables being crap. They work for a while and then they didn’t. Does anybody have any advice re this problem?

Disagree. Much depends on the quality of the connectors and whether the user is reasonably careful with 'em. I'm typing this on a tablet with a micro USB connector that I've plugged and unplugged twice a day, every day for four years. No problem. My phone is three years old. No problem. Now my wife... She always has problems with hers.Everyone has this problem. It’s endemic to the design of microUSB2.

I only use USB for updates, but I had one that didn't work straight out of the box. Have a spare and don't expect them to last, that's the reality.

“Everyone” is hyperbole I guess. Still, a connector has no business being that fragile imhoDisagree. Much depends on the quality of the connectors and whether the user is reasonably careful with 'em. I long for the wireless charging pad I can put on my night table.
Surprised Voopoo/Smok/Vandy Vape/Vaporesso haven't used the wireless cell phone chargers yet.
Unless the USB port gets flaky and you have to rotate between three half-dead replaceable batteries.Nobody uses an external charger for the phone.
