I hear ya Curlygirl. I was so mystified when I got my super-duper has-everything kit it's a miracle I even got one put together. I didn't know the difference between the battery and the atomizer. Of course I hadn't found ECF yet so I didn't know much. I didn't know to blow out the primer fluid. Thankfully, the juice I got was so wonderful I didn't realize how icky it tasted. All I knew was it beat the nasty analogs hands down!

You''ll find your sweet spot with a little practice. It'll become second nature, like lighting up USED TO be. I suffered from chronically drowned attys until I went to dripping only and stopped filling carts. My juice lasts a lot longer, too, and I don't have to mess with tea bags and such. So don't throw away those empty tips. If you morph into a dripper, you'll use 'em.

Good luck from another Hoosier! C'mon over and join us in the Hoosier Vapers subforum.

Hi, I did join that group--it's nice that to know that I am not alone, lol.

I am getting confused on the cartomizers and cartridges? I have looked for some understanding on this, but still am abit fuzzy? So, my 510 has cartridges, some came with no filling at all in them....and that is where I thought the empty tea bag thing comes in:confused:

Maybe I should keep some of these silly questions in the IN forum....as to not give all Hoosiers a bad name:p

I have noticed, as I am new to this....that sometimes I get an okay throat hit and good smoke.....other times, not so much.
That is usually caused by wicking issues.
Understanding the wicking process is the first step in diagnosing most problems.

This is an excerpt from the thread linked in my signature below...

Dry atomizers, flooded atomizers, and wicking
Basically, you want to keep your atomizer happy with plenty of juice, but not too much as to flood it.

A good sign that it's flooded is that it gets a little harder to draw on and you get little or no vapor.
Flooding it, however, won't hurt it at all, and you can just blow out the extra juice.

Letting it get too dry, on the other hand, is not good for the atomizer supposedly.
But regardless of whether it is bad for the atomizer or not, you still don't want to do it.

You can tell it is too dry when it starts to taste like crap.
A nasty sort of burnt plastic type of taste.

One reason it might get too dry is if you burn through the juice faster than it can wick up more.
That is why people experiment with different kinds of filler materials to use in their cartridges.

If you take only a drag or two every now and then, you should be fine.
But if you use these like a cigarette, the wicking process will have trouble keeping up.
There are ways to deal with this, and people have different methods that work better for them.

And of course, when the cartridge is running low on juice, it needs topping off for this reason.

Your 510 carts have filling. Some try to replace it w/ something they think is better like to increase capacity. All you have to do is cut the filler off to about 1/2" if it's more.
The main reason to replace cartridge filler is to get something that wicks better.
The standard polyfill simply does not wick very well.

Finding ways to remove more and more filler is about increasing capacity.

Some of us opt out of the cart filler altogether and drip. Works for me and my lifestyle, probably wouldn't for someone on-the-go a lot...but they'd still have to top off. I haven't flooded or burned out an atty in months. It doesn't take any longer than lighting up and flicking ashes. And emptying and washing ashtrays. Washing windows, walls, furniture, shampooing carpet because everything is coated in sticky yellow stuff. No brainer. I'm just lazy.
