... but I got curious as to what the top compartment looked like on the other side of the plastic disc in there. So I take a screw driver and give the brass screw a turn... OOOOPS!

That screw isn't screwed into anything up there. Its sawed off immediately on the other side of the plastic disc, a wire leading to one pin on the switch is soldered onto the nub of the brass screw jutting thru. So when I gave the screw a turn, I broke the soldered connection right off

Thankfully, I've managed to solder things back together again and reposition the plastic disc back up in the top compartment... and it's back in business again.

Anyway... fyi, if you're terminally curious like me... be careful.

glad you got it back together.. That screw slot is very misleading :)

It fooled me alright:blush:

I dusted off a 45W soldering iron that I haven't used in something like 25 years... craftsman... still works :) I'm real glad I got it back together with just soldering the one joint on the battery contact. I'm sure I'd make a big mess out of trying to remove the old lead on the switch and attempting to replace the entire wire from battery contact to switch.
