Mistake or New Recipe -- Bad Rocking Chair

Rocking Chair is my favorite vape -- the closest I've ever come to and "all day vape." I've ordered lots from FSUSA and it's always been excellent. But, I just ordered 2 120ml bottles and both are totally different and, to me, awful. The color is definitely darker. They don't taste anything like Rocking Chair. They taste like chocolate. Maybe a little tootsie roll? I don't know what happened, but I'm really hoping it's just a mistake and they didn't change the recipe. It took me forever to find a flavor I could really enjoy and don't want to have to go back on "the search" - certainly can't afford it. I'm going to try and mix some vanillin crystals into it or something and see if I can kill the chocolate flavor and get through it.

Just venting, but also hoping.

That's what I'm thinking I'm going to have to do. I tried adding vanillin, that was a no go. Tried a few other things to mix in, too, like various coffee flavors, green tea, black tea, RY4. Trying to get back some semblance of that good flavor, but nothing worked. I have a small 5mm bottle on my vapemate + one 3mm bottle for going out full of the good stuff, but that's probably not even a day's supply. Going to try and get by on some of my other flavors until I can find out if there's a change in the recipe or just a bad batch.

Well..one quick observation that might help anyway...

I loved my hopscotch at 10ml. But when I ordered it at 60ml it just tasted off at first. I couldn't recognize the flavor and I was a little peeved. But, as I've read here..I let it sit out overnight with the caps off to get some air to it. Then set it in the top part of my closet for about a week and now at 15 days it is just as good as I remember and still getting better.

Maybe you've already got a large bottle and this still isn't matching up, but it seems that the big bottles take some time for the flavors to come together. So, it might be a least something to test, as it has helped myself and others.


Hopefully one way or the other you get the flavor back that you are looking for!

I wondered about letting it sit, too. It's been sitting about a week, but I haven't tried airing it. It's not my first 120ml bottle -- just finished off one. I've had it in lots of different sizes. Since I have a day left in the weekend, I'll try air, but don't hold out much hope. The flavor is so different, I think something got put in that's not suppose to be -- like maybe chocolate instead of coffee or something. I don't like chocolate flavors and it never had even a chocolate undertone before. We'll see how the air overnight goes. Thanks.

Yeah, sorry you're having problems with it. I have never tried giving it some air after a week or so, but I know it tends to settle the flavors a bit. I always give it a good vigorous shake when I recap it, then let it sit a least for a bit before trying it. Hope it works out, but either way I'd contact them before I gave up on it, tastes are subjective but they will surely be able to provide you with the best advice.

One of my favorite juices that is normally clear was very dark, and I was told one or more of their ingredients was much darker than usual, but it's a normal variation. My simple little mind associates color with flavor, so seeing my Candy Cane all muddy made it taste different somehow. But once I got confirmation that it's not a mistake, it tasted fine.
Doesn't sound like that's what's going on with you, but maybe possibly?

This sounds similar to issues I had with Hypnotic Mist. My first 2 bottles came from classifieds and were fully steeped and golden yellow when I got them. The first time I ordered HM new, the color was a very light transparent pink and the flavor was way off. I was worried that the mix had changed or I got a bad bottle. I put it away and forgot about it for about a month. When I remembered it, I pulled it out and it was a nice yellow and the flavor was back to normal. 2 weeks after that it was even better. Some people say juice should be fully steeped at 2 weeks but I have had juices get better and better for 6 to 8 weeks. My suggestion would be to shake your new RC well and put some into a smaller bottle. Smaller bottles seem to steep faster for some reason. I'm not sure how the extra ingredients you added will affect it but the smaller bottle may help steep it faster.

I bought a bunch of 30ml bottle on Valentine's Day. I put them in my closet to sit for a month. I tried a few of them but found the flavors to not be up to par. I will revisit them. I didn't pop the tops off since I have gobs of juice so I just put them away for now. I will see what happens and report back.

Put some in a smaller bottle and leave the cap and dripper off overnight. Try it again tomorrow and see if it blended quicker. I would think you would know by then if it's the correct flavoring or not.

Thanks for all the input. I actually had done my usual transfer to a 30ml bottle last night when I discovered the flavor issue, but let it sit without the cap or dripper to give it air for about 24 hours. It did reduce the chocolate smell, but the taste isn't changing. I've had flavors that need to sit, but I don't think it's going to help here. It's not that the flavor is just off a little, it's a totally different flavor. It's like a Rocking Chair label got put on a bottle of Tootsie Roll. Rocking Chair doesn't taste like chocolate or tootsie roll and I don't think air or sitting is going to make chocolate no longer taste like chocolate.

I actually think I figured it out. I remembered that I had a sample of Tootsie Roll from my last FSUSA order. The Tootsie Roll and the "Rocking Chair" look exactly the same -- dark brown. They smell exactly the same. I dripped some of the Tootsie Roll sampler on a clean atty and dripped some of the "Rocking Chair" on another clean atty. They taste exactly the same.

So, it looks like I got 240ml of Tootsie Roll with a Rocking Chair label. That actually makes me feel better. I ordered it during the Valentine's Day sale, so I'm thinking the business caused a mistake. That's no problem. I get that -- mistakes happen. It'll suck not having my main vape around for a few days, but I was more scared they changed the recipe on me and I lost my primary vape. I'm going to go ahead and email David and hopefully he can confirm that's probably what happened, although I went through about 15ml of it trying to mix it to a better flavor, airing it out, etc.

definitely give me a call. I actually love the tootsie roll too but we have been hiring new people and cross training some others. would be suprised if they mislabeled anything but hey we are all human. no matter what we will make it right by you. in the meantime enjoy tootsie roll it is awesome :)

David's taking care of the exchange and I ordered some additional Rocking Chair to get me by in the meantime (already shipped, love the service at FSUSA), though I'll be jonesing for it for a few days. Since I still have my 5ml bottle full in my vapemate and 3ml in my "going out" bottle, I may be able to ration some for a few days -- maybe three drops after each meal and with coffee?

Glad to hear its all working out for you. Mistakes do happen, but it sounds like this will have a happy ending. I knew David would come through for you, I've seen him do it a lot of times.

BTW Nisitiiapi, your attitude was refreshing even though you knew for sure something wasn't right. You're a real gentleman, a rare type of person in today's world.

Thanks Texas T. Did have a happy ending. I got my replacement bottles from FSUSA yesterday. Opened them up and they're all good -- a few more days to let them brew completely and they'll be perfect. Also been vaping the extra 30ml I ordered while waiting even though it's just now getting to full flavor -- too hard to go without my main vape that long.

In any event, great service from David and the whole crew at FSUSA -- one of only two of my top juice suppliers -- and totally relieved it wasn't a recipe change.
