1.
I've been listening to this song today...

Ahhh yes....Great Band!

An old girlfriend's favorite from them was "Mama's Fallen Angel". I can remember her rewinding the tape player (remember those?) over and over in my old Ford Pinto as we drove to Daytona Beach on the weekends. Man...sometimes I wish I could go back in time, just for a day! OK...maybe a year.

My Dad got a good laugh from this Johnny Cash song

I was going to mention that one next. My girlfriend and I got the biggest kick out of this song, and memorized all the words. We got a lot of laughs reciting it in unison, every time we heard it on the radio.

Oh to be a silly teenager again!

My mom was a huge fan of Harry Belafonte. So much so that, over the course of my life, she has dragged me to see him in concert six times (that I can remember). The first two of those were back-to-back nights when I was 5 or 6. I can't find footage from that concert, but he made this in the same decade. :)

About 20 years ago I was in the army and lived in the jungles of Honduras for 6 months. The local Honduran's loved Reggae. We would go into the small towns providing medical care, and inevitably someone would be playing UB40.

Awesome tune and tale to match!

Definitely love the "island feel" of their music. Makes me want some red red wine! Yum! :toast:

Definitely one of his best known tunes! A great one to watch him do live too... ;)

Excellent! Keep'em coming!

Speaking of reggae, my mom also was a fan of Jimmy Cliff, the oft-forgotten counterpoint to Bob Marley. My favorite album of his was Unlimited, and the opening track is just so full of hope and fun...

That sounds great! I've always enjoyed Reggae music, especially when on the beach. Makes me want one of those "umbrella drinks".:toast:

I remember when I was a little kid, going to see Elvis's first movie at my local neighborhood movie theater's Saturday Matinee. It was Love Me Tender and every time Elvis came on, the girls screamed so loud, you couldn't hear anything!
Don't know why I can remember things like this, it was a long time ago but guess certain memories you can never forget, so when I hear this I can still hear all those screaming girls!  Love having all these memories here Brian and thanks for this great music, songs, memories contest! :2cool:

A little old school, and I don't know how to do videos but my entry is

A Song For Mama by Boyz2men My son dedicated that song to me many years ago around the time he deployed to Iraq, and we danced to it at his wedding for the mama/son dance. Sniffle.

You have gorgeous drip tips! Thanks for the contest.

Queensryche was high on my list...... Silent Lucidity was played so much on the radio that it seemed that I really was hearing it in my head all day long....

One of my all-time favorite bands! I was just listening to "Eyes of a Stranger" this morning. I saw them like 3 years ago as they did their "Operation Mindcrime" tour thru Florida at the House of Blues. Jeff Tate was STILL hitting all the high notes...incredible show!! Still don't know why he shaved his head though.... He actually looks like Rob Halford from Judas Priest now, from a distance. BTW...Excellent taste in music, my Friend!

#2. This was the "unofficial" theme song to my High School Prom.

Great Clapton tune!

Yep....that was the Official theme song of my LIFE from about 1983-1991. I think that applied to most touring musicians back then, unfortunately....including Mr. Clapton. Thank God I snapped out of that atrocity many years ago in 1991...but it took a light heart attack to do so. ;)
