specifically, Can i use a Blu cartridge with a NexGen battery? actually, i already have the NexGen starter kit and bought some Blu cartridges because i really like Blu's the best, but the NexGen kit is much cheaper. and i notice that no air is getting in. it just feels like i'm sucking on a pencil. but when i exhale, plenty of vapor comes out. can someone please tell me a way to make this work the way it should? like maybe screwing the cartridge on differently or something? Thanks.

I don't know about the NexGen battery since I've never used one, but I have started using Boge SR cartomizers with my Blu battery. They hit much better and tend to last longer. The Blu carts have the coil made in a strange way, where its half way up the bottom of the cartomizer and I have noticed this causes them to burn much more easily. I have been getting two-three carts in every pack that last for 40-50 puffs and then start tasting burnt. When I take them apart, they have plenty of juice left but they don't wick like they should. Never had this happen with Boge carts. Also it could be the liquid causing a poor throat hit for you. I started refilling my own carts (even refilling the Blu carts) with juice I bought direct from Johnson Creek an I get much better vapor and throat hit than with any of the Blu flavors. Given the poor consistency of the Blu carts, refilling is the only way to go. Otherwise you will spend tons of $$$ buying pack after pack with only half of them even working right. Get a flex tip syringe and some juice from JC and fill up your own carts or refill the Blu ones you already have. Then I think you will get much better results from your Blu battery. The batteries from any vendor will not make a huge difference. It's the cart you use and the juice in it that will give you the throat hit and vapor you want. That's my two cents.

I tried looking on their site for pictures of the connector, but it's not clear.

YOU need to look at where the air holes are. Sometimes there's little slots on the battery side of the connector for air flow...sometimes (I guess) it could be on the carto side. But somehow, the air has to flow into the unit. It's possible, for those that are fully automatic, that it flows in from the pressure switch in the battery too.

So you'll have to use some mechanical smarts, maybe a magnifying glass would help too, and take a close look at the devices and carts and see how they fit together. From that, you can determine how air flows.

Apparently, they are thread compatible since you've already tried it.

Common tip to help air flow is to back off the cart 1/2 turn and see if it still connects but air flows better.
