"These developments come on the heels of a new study by researchers at the University of California San Francisco. They found electronic cigarettes won’t help smokers quit using traditional cigarettes."

Why do I keep seeing similar lines in articles stating the above. If there were anyone in the world that couldn't have been helped quitting traditional cigarettes using a e-cig, it would have been me and I know I'm not alone.

Are they just surveying smokers that aren't even aware that vaping exists?

I don't understand what place that claim has in what seems like a win for the the vaping community.

It's a University of San Francisco study...
Home to Stanton Glantz.

If you don't know who he is, this can help...
Rampant Antismoking Signifies Grave Danger

You can search that page for "Glantz" and see how he has been in the forefront of the ANTZ movement for decades.

You could also take a look at why Glantz is still probably the most prominent ANTZ in America today...

And that's just from the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation...
FORCES International - News Portal

Although RWJF is the primary funder of all those who want to eliminate electronic cigarettes, there are many others.
I don't know how to find out how much funding Glantz has received from folks like the American Lung Association, or from the Master Tobacco Settlement.

I'm sure he has many sources of funding among his decades long network of being in the ANTZ propaganda machine.

Well, that all makes sense to me. Thanks for posting all the links.

Here's the abstract.

http://press.thelancet.com/ecigarettes.pdf

The methodology (now can you say "rigged"?) was terrible. The trial was completely absent of real world usage (of ecigs), as well as false equivalencies between delivery and nic strength between products. E-cigs were effectively stripped of everything that makes them successful, thus the results were fair to poor.

trial in Auckland, New Zealand, between Sept 6, 2011, and July 5, 2013. Adult (≥18 years) smokers wanting to quit were randomised in a 4:4:1 ratio to 16 mg nicotine e-cigarettes, nicotine patches (21 mg patch, one daily), placebo e-cigarettes (no nicotine), from 1 week before until 12 weeks after quit day, with low intensity behavioural support via voluntary telephone counselling. The primary outcome was biochemically verified continuous abstinence at 6 months (exhaled breath carbon monoxide measurement <10 ppm).

I feel like I don't exist. I AM A UNICORN!

TBH, had I tried to quit with the cigalike I used for one day....I wouldn't have lasted through the 2nd.

Obviously a study done by "researchers" with an agenda who have never smoked themselves. I can only speak for myself here, but I tend to go with what I see to be true. The sheer number of people on this forum alone gives lie to the statement I quoted above. *Broken record alert* It isn't about your health. It isn't about "the children". It never was. It is about control, and extracting every dime they can wring out of your wallet.
