So lately I have been looking around at getting into mods. So I was looking around at pricing for batteries and see that there is somewhat a large difference in pricing from place to place.
For a single battery I have seen as high as $20 and lowest has been $5

So I decided to dig around a little and stumbled upon this site: http://www.dinodirect.com

Wondering if anyone has tried them before. Seems to good to be true.

I agree with ridge. I've heard on a different forum that some suppliers had been given imitation crap batteries with labels stuck on overtop to make them look like a better brand of battery. Fortunately the supplier replaced all the bad ones that were inadvertantly sold when he realized what happened. I rely on these types of batteries alone for my vaping and I wouldn't mess around with some that are going to have a lousy life or even worse short out your mod or explode.

I've heard nothing but high praises for RTD. Also I've been told the AW's are the best on the market for pv's so that's the only kind I buy.

Well, this is what I was told....I am not going to pretend like I know for sure....because I don't. This is the advice I've been given by others who have been using these types of batteries for over a year. I was told the AW's have a better internal build to them so there is less chance of overheating in the battery and they have a longer life span. They are also recommended for vaping "power" too. I've read when some people complain that their mods don't seem to hit as hard as what they were expecting and one of the first questions the battery veterans ask is "what battery are you using".

I have a pair of 6 month old 14500's that have been charged a gazillion times already, been left on the charger way too long, been run to below 3.6 and still lasts a half a day when they're fully charged.

I use AW 14500's in my Icon because they are simply the best for Low Res atties. If you don't want to spend the extra $$$ to get AW then I at least suggest an IMR High Drain in whichever size you need. That being said, they require a different kind of care than standard LiPo's and you should always go to Basic to Advanced Battery Information from Battery University and learn everything you can about any battery before you purchase and use. And a charger with a protection circuit is always best as well.

I have lots of both trustfire(protected) and aw's. For me telling the difference is like UFO watching. If the mod is designed for the AW's stick with them, they can compromise safety as they have a different profile. If you are playing with 2$ battery boxes and just being a mad scientist the trustfire(protected) work, last and hit like a champ for me in all my little projects.

Batteries & Chargers

I have used a trustfire in my reo before and I put a carto on that caused a short the neg safety spring did NOT melt due to the size of the battery and the reo started to smoke. I popped it out in .5 secs no harm done but if I was just an average joe or wasn't holding it when it happened things could have gotten very ugly. So do be careful, these bats are powerful and can be dangerous.

Yeah I plan on being a bit of a mad scientist with them. Going to start off with a regular box mod kit, and then try building a VV and possibly a feeder type, and maybe something just completely off the wall.

For the price of getting the materials to build it I figured I can spend the extra and get good batteries. Just wasn't sure if what I was looking at was too good to be true (which turns out to be).
I never really paid much attention to the other posts about RTD since I didn't have much of a need or want to do that yet. But lately I've been having an urge to build something.

I'm sure this has been asked a billion times before but has anybody taken apart a ego type 1000mAh USB pass through and did a photo essay on the procedure?

I know it goes against the spirit of el cheapo box mods but I'm thinking of ripping one apart and incorporating the parts into a foxybox type mod...that way I get the 5 click off, USB pass through...ordered some ce2 xl's, I want to sink them into the box as deep as possible so just the mouth piece sticks out...when you all stop laughing at me, let me know

Also, just wanted to qualify the ce2 xl purchase...I read BigBullie's post on making them rebuildable (hat tip), can't wait for the first one to cook, gives me an excuse for taking it apart and fixing it...maybe I'll make 2 foxybox type mods, one to accept the ce2's and to accept the ego type b atties (contrary to popular opinion, I kinda like the tanks).
