Mod noob needs help

Hello mod world. I have never made a mod before but I'd really like to get into it. I've got a soldering iron, and I work at a hardware store. My ultimate goal is to make myself a tekk mod. Am I biting off more than I can chew or are they pretty simple to make? Any tips, guides, tutorials, etc. would be very much appreciated. Thanks.
