Mod stuck on atty!!!!

My taifun gt is stuck on my nemesis. I was wondering what is the best way to get it off. And if I can't get it off. .. who wants a new taifun/nemesis hybrid?

WRAP rubber glove around it, then a towel around it then use pliers no want on mod

put some wd 40 on there ...you'll have to clean it all like crazy later but it'll probably work

40 years in mechanics tells me that is exactly backwards. Heat expands metals and allows release.

Did you try tightening s touch first. Might break loose. If not run under VERY HOT water for several minutes then quickly grip and twist.

ETA - Did you BACK OFF the center pin?

Lol, you just confirmed what I said, heat expands, cold retracts. if you want to loosen the grip between two seperate pieces, you want them to retract from one another, like opening your fist, not expand into each other. Basic physics.

Well, you can try torching it if you want, haha. Doesn't sound practical to me. The reason heat loosens rusty lug nuts is because differential expansion and accelerated oxydization causes a thin layer of rust to break up, and it also softens the metal.

If you torch your nuts while holding the thing, you'll be able to get them apart.

Now here is something you can try if you have or friend has a vice make sure to protect the atty and insert that into the vice. Use the rubber glove or equivalent material around it and also the mod sticking out. Twist a bit like you're tightening it then twist the opposite direction it should come apart. I had a similar thing happen and used a vice and a pipe wrench came right apart. It's strange how just one thread can bind and lock up a nut or bolt or in this case an atty. Let us know if you're successful.
