Hi friends,

Hoping you guys might have ideas. I'm looking for something specific:

- VW, Regulated with Screen
- TC
- Dual 18650 (150W+)
- Fits 25mm tanks, 30mm would be a bonus
- High Build Quality
- Great Aesthetic

I am NOT interested in cheap mods made entirely of plastic. Things like the Voopoo Drag, stuff from vaporesso, Smoant, and smok are off the table. I basically don't want anything that looks like a power tool; that has that dewalt/ryobi/milkwaukee look. I have about $250 budget and I want to get something that fills the gap in my current rotation (I have no VW mods with TC).

I'm really picky when it comes to looks. I would consider a Lost Vape DNA 250C, as it's exactly what i'm looking for, but I find the leather/wood/carbon fibre to be hideous.

Right now i'm looking at these two, but they both have drawbacks:

Double Barrel 2.1 - Looking for TC and a standard interface with button inputs

DotBox - Looks like you can't fit big size tanks without over hang, and i'd rather not support the new douche bag owners.

Again, aesthetic to me is super important. If i'm not in love with the styling it's an immediate no go.

Anyone kind enough to have ideas?

My requirements were similar to yours so I went with an HCigar VT 75D. It's a dual 18650 DNA 75C mod. Solid build, and feels good in the hand. Can fit up to about 24.5-25mm tanks. I am rocking it with a Serpent SMM. Comes in Silver or Black finishes.

It does NOT meet the 150W+ requirement though.

If you really need that much wattage, I would seriously wait for more DNA 250C mods to come out. Maybe HCigar will make a 250C version.

The ONLY version of the Therion I saw that I liked was a squonk version of the 75C with silver trim and "White Crocodile" leather, but they SUPER hard to find for sale. Even the places that claim to carry them are always sold out. In fact if anyone finds one of these for sale, please PM me where.

There is a black trim version with the "White Croc" leather that is quite a bit more common. I just don't like it.

Expecting to use a VW mod at 150W with 2 batteries isn't a great idea. Your battery life will suck and you'll be constantly swapping charged batteries in, especially as you should be using 30A rated batteries for that regular load, and that limits you to 1,500 mAh batteries in the world of 18650s. You really should be going with a 3 battery solution if 150W is your usual use.

If TC is important and your budget is generous at $250, I'd get something with an Evolv 250c DNA board. If you don't like the looks of Lost Vape products, no worries as other vendors will be offering a variety of mods like Think Vape, Hcigar, and others.

The Eleaf Invoke ticks all the boxes (except for DNA electronics) at $32.99, but it sounds like you are shooting for a higher end mod. It would certainly be a good pocket mod for around the house or around town. 24mm tanks still have a mm clearance on each side with the center mounted 510.

Thanks for the suggestions so far everyone, going to try to respond in one reply.

@ScottP I looked at the HCigar and I think I would be super interested if they came out with a 250/2x18650 mod. Thanks for mentioning it, i'll keep an eye on them. Nice to find someone that also isn't a huge fan of the Lost Vape aesthetic in general. I felt like I was crazy and the only one.

@Mr. Relentless The G Class checks off most of the boxes. Unfortunately it comes down to the aesthetic. I'm one of those weird people where if something isn't perfect, I obsess over it until I get exactly what I want. It's meant spending $80-100 on half a dozen mods until I get the exact one I want. It's also why I prefer paying $250 now and getting something I want, than buying a new mod each month until I realize I should have just gotten the one I originally wanted.

@Steamer861 Would be perfect! But I need those 18650s. Don't want to need to pick up 4 off sized batteries for a secondary/niche mod.

@Eskie The intention isn't for this to be my main mod. I prefer the mods I have now. I just want something that can fire higher so I can use it to build for my other devices. What started this search was the fact that I have no mods currently that have a screen and the power I need to build low resistance coils. To squeeze some value out of it and justify the cost, I tacked TC onto the search criteria. So the only time i'll be using this mod is in (1) building coils and (2) playing with TC. Right now i'm using an 80W vaporesso nano to read my coils and build them. It's too low to do some of the things i'd like to try.

@LewisW295 Not a fan of the plastic power tool looking super mass produced chinese stuff. I don't mind some of the brands, like Asmodus, but a Reuleaux doesn't really do it for me.

@DaveP Unfortunately not looking for a pocket mod. I have a couple already and single 18650 squonking has that niche filled for me. Thanks for the suggestion though, I appreciate it!

@Coastal Cowboy @Letitia I think the things you guys suggested might be the right path for me. Custom high wattage VV TC devices are slightly out of the price range though. I'm now seriously considering buying the parts and tools. Sounds like fun actually.

@listopencil I looked at some of the non-18650 mods and some are definitely close. But because the intent of the mod is basically just for coil building and TC, I don't want to have to invest into potentially 4 batteries. Because of the way shipping works in Canada, I need to buy them from a Canadian store. So that's like $60 just for batteries.

Again, I really appreciate all the feedback. It's given me a lot to think about and some leads i'll start following.

The one that I linked comes with two 26650's, and two adjustment tubes that allow you to use 18650's if that's what you want to do instead. The 26650's included with the mod are pretty nice. They have good rating by Mooch and I use them on my mech mod. If you are looking for a dual battery mod then you are going to want a total of four batteries and an external charger anyway. That one would actually cut your battery expense in half. Just something to think about. There are a lot of options out there.

If all you need is a screen for resistance look at the Squid Industries TAC21.

So close to getting one, but I want something I can use to play with TC as well.

Also considering now the GBox to make dual coil squonking a bit easier. The squonker I use now is a single battery mod.

The mailing situation in Canada with batteries isn't exactly easy. From overseas there's huge delays, a smaller choice of carriers, and special shipping options that need to be chosen. So I would need to buy it here, which might be a bit difficult.

I'm also decked out with 2 external chargers and 8 18650s, with 6 married pairs. Which is why I want to keep in the 18650 family.

May have narrowed it down to:

Dual 21700's are a giant step up from 18650's!
Most external chargers will charge the 21700's to. You can get 21700's right here in Canada for $11 @ Canvape :)

I just thought of something. If the 250C and 75C boards have the same dimension specs (I think they might), it might be possible to buy the VT 75D mod and a raw 250C board and swap them. I'll take a look at the board specs a bit later and report back. I might even buy a raw 250C board myself.

You could also contact HCigar to see when/if they are planning on releasing a 250C mod.

No they do not :( The 250c is a tiny bit bigger.
