Yes, take off your bottle of juice Hose and all and stick a very small screwdriver in the small metal tube that you would connect your juice hose too, and slowly push up the center contact pin, that will let you screw on the Phoenix so you don't have to screw it down so far and you should be good to go! Hope this helps! I once screwed on a ego adapter and it pushed down the contact pin on my reo

Interesting thread, I've thought of building a BF rba a few times myself...as an electrician and a builder with over a dozen mods under my belt...please, just a tip to those out there taking the initiative and modding devices...

always take the time to meter for shorts or worse, dead shorts when you're done tweaking before you simply screw it on a PV and hit the fire button...even then, in the case of an iffy 510 conn...screw on your device, take the batt out of your PV and meter between your batt connections with the fire button pushed...it's a 30 second operation and could save you a trip to the emergency ward.

When I read that someone has just melted the spring in their Grand <<shrug>>, get another spring, poke at it some more then try it again?...that scares the crap out of me...:2c:

This inexpensive RBA, the eGo UFO, they make an A and a B, looks like it has a hole in it.

Can't tell if it goes thru to the connector, kinda looks like it does.

Looks like the spike section can be left outta the mix, but you'll have to trim the skirt.

OK, got bored, and brave, and took 4mudski's advice and raise the center pin on the Grand just a bit. Slapped the drilled out phoenix on my Grand and very gingerly hit the fire button. Success! She fired up beautifully! Juice feed is perfect and the vape is fantastic. Now the only concern I have is brass or copper? I take it brass would be ok, but copper would be bad, right? The phoenix I'm using is the genuine version with the flat top, not the knock-off with the sloped top. Does anyone know for sure, or is there some way to find out definitively if this is brass or copper?

Ok got my Phoenix today... took it apart a figured out why were getting shorts. The center pin goes up and conects to that flat half circle base... then the positive arm to the coil comes off that. The center pin and the arem both have rubber insulating it from negative.... but on the side of that flat circle peace its just bare metal. The only thing keeping it off the inside wall is the rubber on the positive arm. So when u screw the Phoenix down to hard it pushes the center pin and that base is grounding out on the inside wall. Its a poor design in my opinion. So if u grind down the side of the half circle base u can give it more room from grounding out...or wrap the side with sumthing... I'm going to use electrical tape... but I don't know how long that will last or if it will react with the juice.

I was thinking of the same thing the other day when looking at a assembled one. To the grinder it will go. I think I will use some Tubing and stretch it around the Center flat part. That should seal it up nice and tight.

I will give this a try. I may Trash one set up that did not work out when I was moding it and see what I come up with. I may grind the center pin down to see what is under the coating and take it to a shop or someone that can tell me what it is.

I can not see them using Copper. Its way expensive and would put this atty out of the price range I would think. But I could be wrong so don't take my word for it.

I will do some checking around.

Being a plumber in the past, if you have the shavings from drilling out the phoenix, get them wet with water and with time they will turn green. I'am not shure how long this will take but that's all I can think of. Glad it worked for you!!! You really put me on the spot there. Lol,Enjoy!

If u go to the hobby store u can buy sum ss pipeing the same diamiter of the center pin. Then just cut the center pin off the half cirule base part.... drill a hole to pressfit the pipe in the half circule base.... the pipe will act as the center pin... then u could solder it in place or just leave it.... but if u solder it it can act as a barier from the copper in the seem.

For insulation, some plumbers tape, (the white teflon stuff you use to seal threaded connections), should work. Wrap a few wraps around the wide flat part. Teflon is a great insulator, and is damn near inert with regards to anything. Juice won't touch it in a million years.

Goo d Idea will try that as well. I was also thinking of some of that shrink tube. Put it around the center disk and heat it up. Trim the top and bottom. Not sure how it would react with Juice but I will cut a peace and put it in some juice for a few days.

What is the thought on liquid electrical tape. I got some in the shop I will read the back tomorrow to see if it is chemical resistant.
