hope i'm ok to post this here, i'm a newbie and my posts are limited to the new members forum for the moment. wanted to do some modding in relation to raidys amazing genesis, but wanted some professional advice before i splashed the cash!!!! so here goes.... hope the picture at the bottom of the page helps make sense of the madness.......

Hello All! Been vaping since september, and was curious about possible mods, and found myself here!!! Thanks to Raidy for your great designs and inspiration. i've been 'over thinking' this for a few days, and was wondering if this was do-able...!
is there any reason not to use brass for the connection posts for the kanthal? and would it be ok to use ptfe tubing to feed and isolate the power to the atty? these parts seem to be easy enough to get hold of, and it may make construction a bit easier.
if you were to ream 4mm holes to push fit the ptfe and seat them in with epoxy if needed, could you then tap the ptfe to fit the brass spacers?
you could drill a small hole and solder in the wires for the power, and then drill some small holes in the side of the hex to clamp the kanthal.

ptfe: PTFE Tubing And Metric PTFE Tubing - Cole-Parmer Catalog

brass spacers: 4 off Male - Female M3 x 15mm hex spacer brass nickel on eBay (end time 06-Dec-10 12:57:00 GMT)

here is a very rough hand drawn design...

That looks like what i was going for. I do like the ptfe tubes. I am told that you could have exposed wires going through the fluid without having to worry... But, i like that you are isolating them. Personally, i never liked exposed wiring, anywhere.

One thing i would like to add, you might want to think about a way to fill your tank. Right now, youll have to take the unit apart to do so. This is especially true if you were to epoxy the ptfe in place. If you were to epoxy both the top and bottom (ii am suposing you intend to have a stainless steel bottom plate in addition to the top plate), youll need a way to refill it.

Other than that, i like it.

now you just need to worry about a switch, protected battery, and a vent for the battery incase the worst happens.

yeah, i forget to put the hole on for the filler...!!! i was going to use a 'puck' style power supply, being 4 x 2700 mAH 1.2V Ni-MH batteries in a pack. i like the idea that if you are out and your batteries goes dead you can pop into a shop and get some alkalines to tide you over until you get home. also they are a safer and i am a paranoid newbie!! already made a small puck with AAAs and a simple momentary switch and LED. electronics is my weak spot at the moment!!!
