hellooo everyone.

so i'm a new pv owner. i've vaped before, but only with friends and not exclusively.

my question is this: how do i track how much nicotine i'm taking in? ususally i'd smoke three to five full flavored cigarettes in a day. the juice i have is 18 mg (ml?) nicotine. it took me about three days to refill a standard 1.6 ml clearo.

thanks for any and all input!

There's no way to really measure how much nicotine one absorbs from vaping, but if you're only vaping around 1/2 mL a day, that seems like a suitable transition from what you were smoking. As long as you enjoy the effects from that strength juice, then you're doing fine. I also vape the 18mg and feel like it's a good fit for what I'm looking for.

no really dependable information out there about nic absorption.
i was 1/3 pack a day smoker when i quit and i had to use 24mg joose at about 2 mL a day to get off the analogs completely.
i did step down 3 weeks into it to 18mg joose but had to vape more about 3mL a day to keep from wanting to take a cig.
just this previous week, did another step down to 12mg.
plan to keep most of my joose at 12mg now and i should be able to vape about 2 to 2.5mL a day.
still have the 18mg and the 24mg for flavors and the time-to-time want for a stronger vape.

the biggest "tip" i got from this forum, from so many that have gone down this path before me: do as your body feels. If what you're vaping now is able to keep you off the analogs, then it's good. if get a light buzz, ok but definitely put it down before you get nauseous. Don't over-do but don't under-do so that you go back to cigarettes. Once you know for sure, you can not have to take a real cig, and only then, should you really consider the nicotine you are taking in.

To finish my math project, a regular Full Flavor analog will have 1.1 or 1.2 mg of nicotine, while a light would have .7 or .8 mg. So 28.8/3=9.6 (total nicotine in 1.6 mL of 18 mg juice divided by 3 days it takes to use the tank). 9.6/1.1 ≈ 8.7 Full Flavor analogs per day, or 9.6/.7 ≈ 13.7 light cigarettes. Assuming you are actually absorbing all of the nicotine. I honestly don't know how much of the nicotine actually gets absorbed in the vaping process.

Interestin! I was a PAD smoker for almost 40 years. I started on 18mg nic, but as soon as I replaced my Blu about a week after quitting I went down to 12 and have stayed there :)
I don't think you can necessarily make a correlation between how many cigs one smoked, and the recommended nic. strength when vaping. Some multiple PAD smokers may have smoking habits that only equate to a low nicotine dose, and someone who only smokes a few a day may have the opposite effect. Everyone uses vapor differently as well, and some ppl don't even inhale it. I like the 18mg cuz I'll stay satisfied w/ just a couple puffs here and there, but on the other hand I can also chain vape for 5-10 puffs and get a nice little nic. buzz if I want. When I get into DIY, I wanna actually try 24mg strength, just to have a clearomizer of if I'm ever in that mood wanting a little extra kick. I don't really see myself going below 18mg tho. I vape to get a nicotine dose. I'm not trying to recreate any fondness of going thru the motions of smoking.

wow! man, i love this place. everyone is super friendly and helpful :D

props to you, schwiggidy, for helping me finally understand what that measurement stood for xD

the reason i wanted to know was to see if i was "smoking" any more or any less. i have friends who NEED their ecig, and they literally are never seen without puffing on one - and i don't want to get to that point. that is, the point where my ecig becomes part of my hand.

i've been thinking about making the switch down to maybe 12, 14 mg just because i want to taste the flavor of the juice more - it seems that 18mg is rather strong on the actual taste... and it looks like i'm going to :)

weskeene, one of the other reasons i started smoking (besides "rebelling" and the crazy awesome buzz) was because i really really love the look of smoke - now it will make sense to step down to 12, or perhaps lower.

thanks so much everyone!! :D
