Mods have personalities that affect taste - not what I expected: eVic versus iTaste 134

Just the eVic in the mail today - been vaping with my iTaste 134 on a KT Protank II. I notice there is an ever so slight delay on firing on the eVic (not in the recall batch - its a really small delay), versus the iTaste134.

Interesting thing is with the eVic it seems to be a slow ramp up to power, like 1 second, whereas the iTaste hammers the tank right out of the gate. I like that - the iTaste 134 just ramps it and you get the cloud, like bang, in your face. The eVic thinks about it. I set both to 11W in VW mode (iTaste 134 is only VW).

I wouldn't say I don't like the eVic, as the form factor is terrific for the pocket and grabbing a stealth vape at work or in the car, etc. When you pull out the monster that is an iTaste 134 you instantly get the '... is THAT?'

New to vaping, so I found this aspect of hardware 'personality' very interesting - same tank, same battery, same power settings, same favorite blend (Havana Cream + Mint Chocolate @ 6mg) but different experience.

Actually you have four memory slots to store different custom settings on the eVic. (1VV, 3 VW) If you go through the eVic product info on the Joyetech web site they direct you to an external site where people post and share their eVic vape setting recipes.

I get what you are saying about the default "soft start" feature. To a point I think it's not a bad idea. I think the theory behind it is a slow start is less likely to kill coils, and possibly helps to prevent gunking up by hitting the coil hard and fast.

A fun thing to try to work with the default settings is... the Auto function. Change to Auto mode and set yourself for, let's say..., an 8 second vape. To use the auto mode you then hit the fire button and just release. Don't start you draw until after the first three seconds or so. It's different - but it works.

To override the auto function just press and hold the fire button as usual.

The amount of flexibility in this design is insane. Really puts the big A in APV.

I didn't think of it from that point of view, good point. I suppose the different power factors supplied to the coil can have a lot of influence, including length of life of the coil. Perhaps that accounts for flavor, vape volume and other factors too...
