And then, another epic song worthy of the whole side of the album ...
I think it was nearly 20 years later that I realized this wasn't the original.
(BTW this is epic footage - kudos to whoever cleaned it up and posted it)

Well, it's a shame they have embedding disabled. So for those that don't want to click through, here is another live version. (I guess two videos per post is not allowed)

Crap. I'm going to have to hunt that down now.

How about the ROCK OPERA - putting on headphones to listen to a story rather than opening a book?
or King Crimson + Soft Machine =

There's also the tension created from not knowing if they actually believe in what they are writing or not .... and they are still touring.

Radio Gnome Trilogy; Flying Teapot, Angel's Egg, and You (1971-74)
Radio Gnome 4 (1991)
Shapeshifter (2007)
2032 (2009)

OMG!! I have actually seen them a couple of times in the last 10 years or so... and Gilly is still doing this song, complete with cat ears and tail...

One time they had Kevin Ayers on the bill with them... R.I.P.

Now I'm really envious. I would LOVE to see them. Back then, even in their interviews they sounded as if they really believed in pixies, visions from the future, et. all. It doesn't sound like they've broken character. I'm glad they survived.

YouTube should be declared a national treasure with some of this footage.

Here is a VERY young Lou Reed

Venus in Furs is my fave VU song... I've got a whole CD full of different versions of it...

Since somebody posted some Frampton earlier, here he is with Steve Marriott (and the band Marriott formed after he left The Small Faces)... doing a GREAT version of a Dr. John song!!! :thumb:

Note: Steve Marriott was living up in the Santa Cruz, CA area with his G/F during the late 70's, and while I was up there visiting some friends, I had a chance to go to their house to see a backyard jam with some of the local musicians (which they bought in a pro sound co. for... lol) and a woman I was talking to said "My... that guy sure has a good voice..." and I just smiled and said "He always did!!" :D

Wow. That must've been something. Marriott was one of the finest ever. That video left me speechless.
I wasn't going to post then I remembered reading .... "Dr. John"

My musical taste is anything but the top 20.

This song was on the band Mountain's 1st LP 'Climbing' in 1970... but I always loved this solo version of Jack Bruce's (who co-wrote the song) and would later become part of the trio, West, Bruce and Laing... after the break-up of Mountain.

(betcha didn't know he could play piano like that?? :) )
