What you're doing is basicly like dripping. You have
juice in your atty, put on an empty cart and vape. When dripping, if your atty starts getting dry you need to put some more
juice in the atty (2 or 3 drops should do.) The dry taste is not pleasant and you'll probably reduce the life of your atty if you keep running it without enough liquid.
If you blew out the atty well, there probably wasn't much
juice. You could have dripped 2 to 3 drops in and had better results. When blowing out an atty, you might try tapping it lightly on the paper towel after you blow through it. Seems to work better for me. You say the cart was sounded flooded. Blow through from the mouth piece end into the paper towel and give it a tap. When refilling the cart, make sure it looks like a slushy. If there is liquid pooled on top of the filler, dab it off. That should help keep the atty from flooding.
A large part of my learning curve was learning to tell what was going on with the atty. Did it have enough juice, too much or too little. I suspect that's pretty common and just takes some experience.
