Still having weird symptoms that seemed related to my BP, but now I'm beginning to wonder. Sorry this is long.

For anyone who has high or borderline-high BP, you will know that despite what doctors say, yes, you CAN indeed tell when your BP is elevated. I get a somewhat rapid heartbeat, a light 'butterfly' feeling in the chest, a headache, slight dizziness, etc., and if I go check my BP, indeed it is up. Mine has always been referred to as borderline hypertension & I've thus avoided meds so far.

Since beginning vaping/giving up analogs (13 days & 6 days respectively) and especially in the last 6 days (hmmm...) I have these feelings quite regularly. It actually scared me yesterday. One would think BP would go down when giving up analogs (although perhaps not immediately), and it seems that mine has gone up. So my first thought is that I'm getting more nic than I did w/analogs (although I'm not sure how that's possible), so I reduced my vaping & will order 12mg in the future instead of 18.

However! Today I wake up w/the same feelings/symptoms, assume my BP is through the roof, and check it - my reading is 119/69  That's the best darn BP I've had in YEARS, so why am I having these elevated-BP symptoms? I'm really confused! Does anyone have a clue?

im like you, on the borderline of high 135/89 ish. mr doc wants me to go on meds but im very hesitant. i also can feel when my bp is on the high side, with the very same symptoms. (usually head dizzy/pressure thing).

if you have recently quit cigs, your body will be adjusting itself so you will be feeling all sorts of weird stuff. that being said, i do find that nicotine content in juice is a strange thing, and it easier to get a high from ecigs vs cigs. i had to drop to 4mg, from 10mg of nic as i always felt strange, lke the high bp thing. try droping your nic level and see if that helps you.

Thanks so much for your reply - nice to know someone understands the head/dizzy/pressure feeling! I know that, having just quit the stinkies a week ago after 25 years, my body is undoubtedly going a little crazy right now. When I got the 169/102 yesterday I really freaked out. Three hours later it's 110/89 - crazy!

I did finally break down & visit the dr today (took my BP monitor along so they could verify that it's accurate & it was dead-on with theirs). I agreed to try some meds (dr has been on my case for a while) @ a low dose. I feel a great deal better this afternoon/evening. Hopefully this combined w/lowering my nic mg from 18 to 12 will even things out. If not, I'll drop the mg a little more.

Another thought occurred to me today as well. I'm quite the coffee drinker & for some reason since beginning vaping I'm drinking MUCH less coffee (craving water instead). I wonder if at least some of the strange head-achy feelings could be attributable to caffeine withdrawal?

Thanks again for your understanding - helps to know I'm not alone!

no worries. just curious, what med did the dr put you on?
one thing to remember about bp, it can very based on many factors and its not odd to see differences in readings. i think the 12mg is a step in the right direction.

Atenolol 25mg twice/day (once if my BP and/or pulse go too low). So this morning after taking meds I got a 93/75 (pulse of 55) & am actually feeling quite dizzy! Had one cup of coffee & hardly vaped @ all so far today. I guess it may take a while to get it regulated? For some reason it helps to eat something. Too high, too low - who knows what's going on

i was on that for a while as well and stopped cause it made me dizzy too. i started wih 25mg once daily then dropped to 12 ( half a pill). apparently thats one of the more well tollerated meds. ask you dr about lowering your dosage, twice daily seems high.

Yes, I think I will check w/the dr. about that. I'm wondering if I should take it once daily (at night just before bed) so that I will sleep through any weird feelings? Of course, that may not be advisable.

Thanks for the input :)

My BP is usually 110/70 but I get those symptoms of elevated BP that you describe sometimes when I'm vaping. I have attribued it to the PG or alcohol or some other additive? I don't get those symptoms as much when I'm using mostly VG. I've never actually checked my BP when I have the symptoms so I don't really know if it IS in fact elevated.
What do you vape ? PG or VG ratio's ? just curious. Thanks.
