Morning Cough When vaping

After 12 days smoke free, I find my normal need for nicotine is about 16mg (24mg is ok for some juices such as NHALER Vanilla, so far my favorite).

However, I find that when I wake up in the morning, my first vape will cause me to cough. No where near the cough I used to get with analogs, that is, the deep, hurting, unstoppable analog chest cough. But I do cough.

I have cut some 16mg juice in half, to 8mg.That seems to work better for mornings.
Then after an hour or two, I go back to my normal 16/24mg.

I do have to vape a LOT during the day (maybe too much), I'm still having to temper my analog urges.

Anyone else have this morning coughing problem?

I cough in the morning due to chronic bronchitis... I've had it for years and as thats why i decided to try vaping. Every fall my bronchitis flairs up horribly but this year... so far not too bad! I am hocking up or "cleansing my lungs" of noticable amounts of brownish tarry looking gunks though... :) no wonder I can breathe deeper.

Yea it happens cause we still got thoese stuffy lungs. I mean since i been vaping i been trying to take deep breaths each morning before i take out my e-cig and i get that harsh cough still..I so badly want to breath better that i drink more water than before. It works out well if you drink fluids before trying to vape remember vaping tends to leave your lungs a bit more dry when asleep. So when your awake all you do is brush your teeth have your morning coffee and then vape.. That should work better.. i been doing it 2 days now.

There are other threads on this, but I can attest to this myself. Go get yourself some VG! (Vegetable Glycerin)

Cut that into your liquids and it makes a huge difference. I had the dry throat and cough as well from everything and now it's smooth and even more vapor. I picked up a 6 oz. bottle of the HUMCO Glycerin at Wally World for $2.98 - this will last a while to say the least.

Good luck and happy vaping!

Yes : Drink something before your first morning vape.
PG and VG will dehydrate you. Drink before going to bed.

ecig vapor is not water vapor. Way less toxic than cigarette smoke but not a healthy habit.

Beware of chain vaping. You are in front of your computer or tv ? It is too easy to vape non-stop. You have a passtrough ? Even more easy. When I am at my computer I try to take 10 to 20 puffs and then put my ecig in another room even if it is only for 15 to 20 minutes.

I haven't had any issues with coughing, but part of the reason might be that even when I was doing analogs I was pretty physically active. Now I'm hitting the gym very hard and doing some rigorous hikes on the weekends. Your lungs will start clearing on their own once you give up analogs, but if you place some demands on your cardio system they'll work even harder to rid themselves of the accumulations of tar and gunk.

As the saying goes, "Consult with your doctor before implementing any exercise program."

Tonight is my deadlift workout at the gym. Three weeks ago I dreaded this type of workout because of how my pulse would jump as the weight increased. Now I've seen a huge improvement in my circulatory and respiratory function, and I actually look forward to the heavier workouts.

I really recommend people try to get into stuff like working out, hiking, raquet sports, even brisk walking. Believe me, unless you're already emphysemic you'll probably see even more dramatic health improvement than if you're sitting idly and vaping non-stop, and that morning cough might just become a memory.

This is really the best advice. Lot's of folks report symptoms after vaping for awhile that may be coincidental. It is cold and flu season folks. We're all different and we all react differently. If you're not sure... go see your doctor.

Best of luck to you.:)

Same here. So far my doctor is impressed--I'm taking another breathing test in January. Let's keep praying.

I forgot. I did dehydrate in the beginning I think. I drank more water and it seemed like I started feeling better. I can't draw a conclusion from it though, cause I was doing a lot of things wrong that could have made me sick.

Drinking before bedtime should be good news to those who clean their attys with Everclear :)
