Los Angeles (actually California) has the filthiest, garbage ridden beaches in the US.

Never been to new jersey beaches I presume.

If you want a nice beach? Gunnison Beach in NJ. For more reasons than one :D
People always gawk "NJ? Ewww the water and beaches are sooo polluted!" Not really. Don't believe everything you read and hear.

New Jersey beaches are precisely the reason I'll go to any other beach on vacation now that I'm an adult.

I didn't know the actual color of sand or that water could be clear or blue until I went somewhere else.

Plus there's hypodermic needles and other medical waste that washes up on shore and closes a beach every year in NJ for the past decade or so.

I won't go back. Ever.

My childhood "vacations" were wasted on those vile beaches filled with vile people.

Not sure what beaches you went to in NJ, but they're nothing like that...maybe a couple beaches 15 years ago that anyone from NJ would never go to.
All of them.

I've spent more time working in NJ shore towns than half the people born there live there.

There's a reason you have to pay a toll to get out of NJ.

P.S. A quick Google search should verify at least one of my statements.

You guys make everywhere in the US sound grim :(

Everywhere but Milwaukee
Most of the country is gorgeous.

Just the majority of the northeast is a cesspool either literally or by the quality of a large portion of the inhabitants.

As is the case for select cities across the nation.

But they're just blips on the map.

You could just gather up some syringes for DIY without waiting on an Amazon delivery. :D

Well, I don't care if anyone has a different opinion, but after living here for the past 25 years, Atlanta is fantastic.
Agreed.

Just a PITA to drive around and squat for truck parking.

People have been down to earth to me despite being such a big city.

Thumbs up.

Didn't you folks like just lose a section of freeway that's supposed to turn Atlanta into an apocalyptic traffic jam for the next year?

No, it was that before the freeway collapsed. Now it's a post-apocalyptic jam. ;)

I've lived in Florida for the past 14 years, after living and working in the Northeast for all of my career. The Northeast country scenery is beautiful, 5 or 6 months a year. Cities are a mess, particularly in the 'rust belt'.
Nobody moves to Florida for the scenery. People move there for the weather.

People move to Florida for the beaches and sensible taxation.

Florida has no state income tax.

Florida will also protect your primary residence from seizure.. Even from the IRS.

Oh, and the weather is pretty nice too.

Yep. Lots of reasons for retirees, especially, to live in Florida. No state income tax. Homestead exemption on primary residence, which is a big real estate tax break, on taxes which are comparatively low anyway.
