An offshoot thread of an offshoot thread.

So far I haven't had any really, shall we say ignorant, comments. I did get one "that is SO lame" ie. SO uncool, from an acquaintance. Two friends I showed completely ignored it (we were in a busy social environment at the time) - defensiveness maybe? They're both smokers.

And many "can you smoke (Other Stuff) in that?"

Please do tell if you have some winners :)

I got the "so you like smoking antifreeze eh" then I got that same person to buy my old blu e cigs (a few weeks later and use those regularly (got a volt now way better)
Good result. Next time you get the anti-freeze response tell them they need to do a bit more research as the product they are referring to is a distant cousin of PG. PG is actually the main stabilizing agent in asthma inhalers.

I really can't understand how people can be so stupid to......ok, no I can understand.

But, seriously....anti-freeze describes what a substance DOES, not what it IS....

Just because some anti-freezes have PG in it.....and other anti-freezes are toxic.

I had an idiot say this to me while in a smoking area at a bar, I just said, "Yes, there's anti-freeze in it. You wouldn't like it. Enjoy your formaldehyde and arsenic."

*sigh*

All that comes to mind is dihydrogen monoxide.

That is my defense to any argument against e-cigs...

"Your worried about anti-freeze in my e-cigs? We have a global epidemic of dihydrogen monoxide in everything we ingest. I'm still standing, but dihydrogen monoxide kills people every year. AND the government knows about it! That stuff is even in your beer!!!!!!"

:glare:

I've only been successful in freaking out 4 people. But it was really fun.

I've never got any negative comments yet. Maybe it's the way I look.. :D

Lot's of Whoa's, Wow's, Is that what it is & What the heck is that you're smoking?!

I have had some folks say that they would rather continue to smoke analogs than try this stuff because who knows what's in this stuff, and to them I say.. So, you'd rather smoke something that you KNOW will kill you instead of taking a chance on something that may or may not?! But hey, that's your choice & this is mine!

That one always amazes me....

Let's see, we know exactly what is in e-liquid. When it is vapourized, the chemicals do not undergo a combustion change, just a physical state change...

Or, you can inhale a burning substance....smoke that contains all kinds of chemicals that have been blasted apart to form new ones...

which to choose....which to choose.

Nothing negative in public yet. Only negative comments are from close friends who smoke. Nothing negative from family yet :)

People in public ask what it is and how it works, so I always go through the basic concept and what the fluid contains. Usually I add how I feel better, don't stink, and can use it inside(with respect to those around me/owners of wherever I am) :D

When I first started vaping my brother came over to my house, not knowing anything about e-cigs. When he saw me vaping on my 808 in the living room he asked me: "You're smoking in the house now?"
I replied: "I'm not smoking, I'm vaping"
-"But isn't that a cigarette?"
-"No, it's a vaporizer."
He looked at me as though he had just met me for the first time and said: " Vaporizing? What are you, from the frigging future?"

Yes, you are from the future!

I had someone tell me he has heard that vaping is bad because the air you inhale has debris in it and it's absorbed into the vapor. So you are getting a lot more particles in the air going into your lungs.

That has GOT to be true. I think that I'll start jamming a cigarette filter into the tip of my stardust to filter out all those nasty "natural air" contaminants.
