Today I got some vapemail from MOV. I love vapemail.
-S and -L sent me one of their new
MOV Rebuildable Atomizers along with some other stuff to test and review. First off, the MOV RA is a beautiful atty. It is a stainless, two-part atty. The cover unscrews to expose the rebuilable coil/wick area.
The first thing I notice about the atty is that some drip tips do not fit. It came with a black plastic tip that fits very tightly. Don't even try to get a tight fitting Ming tip into the atty. I have a rubber tip that fits perfectly, so it doesn't create a problem for me. In fact, I have been looking for a place to use this "too loose fitting" tip for months.
The MOV RA has a closed connection, so you won't have to worry about leakage onto your battery. It comes pre-built, and registers out at 2.1 ohms. The package came with two extra resistent wires, one marked "23" and the other marked "34". The atty is 510 threaded and fits every 510 device I have, including my Ovale V6 Gripper (which has a recessed well to fit ce4 type cartos).
So what flavor should I try out on Mountain Oak's rebildable atty? MOV sent me some samples, but as I have not tasted them yet on any device I have nothing to compare it to. Should I use my favorite flavor, the blueberry tobacco ejuice Blue Ridge? No, it does not have the complex depth that I want to really test this atty. I think Heavenly 7 will make a good test flavor. I reviewed Heavenly 7 back in
post #4757.
I have not read up on how to use this rebuildable atty, so I am shooting from the hip. The atty is stock, as it came to me in the sealed factory package. I pull off my rubber drip tip and look down into the atty. The coil/wick are dead center, so I drip 5 drops down onto them. The first hit is kind of dry and stale. This was not unexpected, as the coil has never been used before. I think I will try it on a different mod.
This is where I learn my first tip. When I went to unscrew the atty, only the top cover comes off. With the top cover off, the coil is plainly exposed. I can remove the cover each time I need to drip. This gives me great access for dripping. It also solves the first issue I had with the MOV RA. With the cover off, I can force a drip tip onto the cover, yet never have to worry about taking the tip back off. It will just become part of the atty's cover piece.
Take two. With the cover off, I drip three drops of the heavenly juice directly onto the coil. I screw the cover into place and take a hit. The taste is very good for a fresh atty. None of the "atty primer" taste we all remember from our early days of breaking in attys. Just a very slight metallic taste from the fresh coil (which can't be avoided, and won't last long). But the Heavenly 7 flavor is intense! The throat hit has improved, and the flavors come out in Technicolor. The chocolate is creamier, the coconut is brighter. I pull out the carto (used in the first review) to compare. There is no comparison.
One thing to note that is neither positive or negetive. This atty does not crackle. Even at higher voltages, there is no sound that comes from the atty. This can be confusing at first. Is my battery dead? Do I have a bad connection? These things passed through my mind as I took the first hit. But the flavor lets you know everything is working. Back to the testing/early review.
Vapor is (of course) better using the MOV Rebuildable Atty over the Boge carto. What surprised me is by how much. Heavenly 7 already provides a generous amount of vapor, but in this atty we are talking fog machine. MOV's rebuildable atty just out performs the Boge in every aspect except longevity. After about six great hits, the flavor is becoming muted.
I will continue to play with the rebuildable atty over the next few days. I will also continue to put my thoughts to
paper pixel. So far, I am very impressed with the use and performance of the MOV Rebuildable Atomizer. Early grade has to be an
A+.
Coming soon: Changing flavors and rebuilding the coil/wick (has anybody seen my reading glasses?)
