Hi
I have been vaping for just a few days & notice that my tongue & especially the roof of my mouth are feeling like they have been burned...like when you drink a very hot liquid too quickly...and your mouth is sore for a day or two. When I wake up...I'm fine...but fairly quickly (hours) my mouth seems to feel burned again...I'm using a 50/50 PG/VG mix and a 12mg nic juice from Mt Baker. I'm not vaping excessively and I'm stumped. I'm also using a bunch of flavors to try to figure it all out

At first I thought it was the heat of the vapor...like the feeling way too many cigarettes in a short time felt. However, as I'm fine for the first few vapes..I'm wondering if it's something else...connected to giving up anaolgs. It's irritating but I haven't developed any sores (yet). It isn't making the experience great...but I'll be damned if I go back to tobacco.

Has anyone else experienced this burned mouth/tongue feeling & does it go away???
Thanks :)
Southie

Well PG tends to dehydrate your mouth, especially when starting.

Also some of your taste is coming back that you lost from smoking. You could also have a sensitivity to PG or one of the flavors in your juice.

I remember my tongue feeling like that at first and it went away.

I would try another flavor of liquid if you have it, and just keep an eye on how your mouth reacts for another day or two.

Obviously if it gets worse you really should consider that you might be allergic to PG or VG and not hurt yourself. I am a bit sensitive to PG and some flavors, but 50/50 mix is ok for me.

Kanger makes some great tanks, I think you will be happy with it :)

When I first started vaping I also used to get the dry feeling in my mouth. On top of that my gums bled quite badly for the first several weeks. When I went to see the dentist he explained to me that years of smoking had dried out my gums, and, where I had switched to vaping I was now getting loads of fluids into my mouth resulting in my gums returning to normal, which is why they were bleeding. This cleared up after about 6 - 8 weeks.

I've also found over the past couple of years that when my atomiser is starting to 'burn out' I get very dry hits, which leaves the roof of my mouth and tongue quite dry. I hope this helps :)

I completely agree with almost everything said above. The only thing I would differ on, or rather expand on, is the listerine. If memory serves alcohol in mouth wash can also dry things out. Im fairly certain a non alcohol mouth wash (which listerine does make one) would serve you better. Brushing, and staying hydrated also help. Aside from that I would suggest trying a vg based liquid. You could be allergic to the vg but pg allergy is much more common.

i have noticed that chain vaping with the device low : meaning the vape hits the top of your mouth tends to do that. If i put hte device where the vape goes more in the middle of my mouth and take slow drags, it doesn't irritate the top of my mouth. That's on 70%VG with dripper.

Might work for you

Thanks for the tip...i have been pointing the device towards the top of my mouth...hope itwoill pass soon..Cheers!!!!

I went thru the same thing. Drink plenty of liquids, brush your teeth and use some Listerine. It will pass after a while. It's just your mouth getting used to the change from smoke to vapor. Danged uncomfortable, that's for sure.

Thanks BCD....your support is very much appreciated. i'll drink lots of water..etc. Hell...I smoked for 40 years...my body is bound to go through something...Cheers :)

Ex 40+ year smoker here as well...

Congrats on making the switch!

I have experienced the same issue..I found several things that helped get rid of it:

Hydration can help.
Turn down the watts a little.
A high PG level can "bite" as can a high distilled water content (think steam cleaning your tongue)

You may want to try a different liquid--for me 30PG/70VG and NO distilled water work well.
