A coworker that smokes told me of a similar problem. Every time he tries to quit smoking, he gets terrible sores on his lips. His doctor is baffled. I tried to get him to start vaping, but refused because he’s afraid of the sores returning.

Nicotine kills a lot of germs. It's not good for your mouth circulation and whatnot (especially when smoking) so overall, it may decrease the health of your mouth (vaping less so I'd imagine) but well.... Nicotine really does kill things I mean you can use it as a herbicide for gosh's sakes.

Keep in mind I am in no way connected to the dental profession, it is JUST a theory.

I can confirm this as well actually. Also its a coincidence that I started growing a beard rather than shaving religiously, less acne and bacteria goes elsewhere. I have been vaping 2 years however and about the same time as beard came in, 6 months ago I started getting ulcers too. But lately its been making my top of my mouth sore, so I can relate to the reason why.

Lately I've been going up in power and doing rebuildables more, so that excess juice spits out all in your mouth, burns as well, and causes openings for sores to form.

Advice to you is to watch the spit back as best as possible. Also watch the tip of your tongue. I did it without even realizing it, so hope it helps someone.

Canker sores are caused by a variety of diseases herpes being one of them. When you are stressed your immune system is down and the sores appear. Quitting nicotine voluntary or not causes stress. Thus the sores. If they dont go away once your supply of nicotine is stable I suggest visiting a doctor or dentist.

For the past few days I've been waiting for my replacement coil to arrive (finally arrived today) and I noticed a pattern of mouth ulcers whenever I don't have nicotine for a period of time.

Anyone else experience this?
That is strange. I think the most likely idea would be that you are grinding your teeth or clenching your teeth and sometimes biting your mouth while you sleep due to the effects of stress from withdrawal. Either that stress has lowered your immune system and allowed something to come forth like a mouth ulcer or a virus sore also called a cold sore. Basically withdrawal from a substance that is physically addicting does create physiological stress in the body and a whole assortment of things can be triggered by stress as it reduces the immune system
