Movie Quiz 9

We watched number 1 last week!

Wow, got all of these easily. I never saw 8, but I know what it is. Was it any good? It looked too predictable, and the trailer gave too much away.

I enjoyed number 8, evil.

I figured some people might have some trouble with numbers 3, 5, 6, and 7. I kinda thought of it this way:

#3: That's not a key scene in the movie, and it doesn't depict any of the lead characters. But it's definitely memorable.
#5: Relatively speaking, not a whole lot of people even saw this movie.
#6: Once again, it's the overall limited-viewership element.
#7: Another scene that isn't key in the movie, but is also quite memorable.

There are clearly a couple of 'gimmes' in this weeks' quiz, (#1, #4, and possibly #2). But, for those who weren't easily able to ID all the movies, I'll post a few hints little later on tonight.

I knew a guy (a salesman) who would quote 5 a lot... but the movie he quoted most (almost incessantly) was Top Gun. He was VERY annoying

#8 wasn't bad, but it was disappointing. Or maybe my expectations were too high, I dunno.

Random hints:

#2: Note the pod-like apparatus over the guy's shoulder. If that, and his face don't answer this one for you, you've probably not seen the movie.

#3: "I love my dead gay son!"

#6: At a press conference, the Cardinal unveils The Buddy Christ.

So far I know 1,2,4,6,8. 6=one of my all time favorites! Great choices caff. Now I'm going to try to figure out the other ones...
Number 8 was good, but as usual, the book was better IMO...

I only know #7, although #2 looks familiar. I'll try to figure it out.

8 is based on a book? Is it called the same name? I will have to find. Book is always better than movie IMO (with Fight Club being the exception that proves the rule)

Yes, the book and the movie go by the same name. The author is one of my wife's favorites, and although she enjoyed the movie, she says that the book is definitely better.

Got 2,4,6, and 8 for sure. Not too sure about 7.

Techno. Can't find a book called what I thought 8 was. So I must be wrong! I was so sure of that one! (even checked imdb and it says it was an original work by the screen writer). So now I know one less than I thought.

The author of the book (re: movie #8) also had another of his books made into a movie, which Ben Afleck directed...
Clint Eastwood directed one of his books into a movie as well.
I'm sure that is a really helpful clue!
Of course, if I happen to be wrong about which movie number 8 IS, then all of this is rubbish!

A couple more hints:

#7 originated as an old SNL musical sketch. Pictured are a couple of Illinois Nazis.

#5 originated as an award-winning play. The role being played by the actor in the photo was written specifically for him, and for the movie; his character isn't in the play at all.

Thanks Caff! Several of my favorites on the list this week. I could watch Dogma over & over (in fact, I have!)...
Shutter Island is also a really good book, Elphaba...you should read it when you have time!
Somehow I have never seen the Heathers, or Glengarry. Guess I should put them on the list.
