First let me say that I am not a smoker. I got involved with e-cigarettes because my father is a smoker and has been since before I was born (which is a long, long time, let me tell you). He has tried in vain to quit smoking many times over the years, but cigarettes have a strong hold on him. One day I got the bright idea to buy a starter kit of these new-fangled things called e-cigarettes, even though he told me he already had tried them once. (After further discussion, I found out he had tried a disposable e-cig by a company called njoy, which he bought at Walgreens and hated, consequently causing him to judge all e-cigs as "gross.")
Anyway, I bought a starter kit by Blu Cigs because it seemed affordable, the website was easy to navigate for someone who knew absolutely nothing about e-cigs, and there were cool little techie aspects to their whole marketing ploy that appealed to me. I bought it, he tried, he loved it. It is now almost 2 months later, and now that my dad has had time to experiment with everything in the kit, he finds some things that concern me. 1) The batteries don't last long enough and he is constantly having to switch them out/charge the pack. 2) The vapor is not thick enough, so he is not being satisfied by the puffs, which has caused him to go back to the "analog" cigs a few times. 3) The hardware seems to be on a down hill decline, working less and less efficiently as time passes.
My dad is almost 70 years old, retired and previously a senior mechanical assembler. While he is very mechanically inclined, I really don't want him to have to fuss with the gadgets to get them to work. I want him to have satisfying puffs that do not make him long for "real" cigarettes. I don't want him to walk around, constantly worrying that his e-cig battery is going to die at an inopportune time. On the other hand, my dad LOVES the different flavors available, he loves that the e-cig looks and feels like the cigarettes he is used to, and he loves that they come in different strengths. (He had been able to wean himself down to ultra lights, and he finds that Blu's "light" is comparable to the strength he is used to.)
I am hoping that some of you experienced, knowledgeable, e-cig savvy people out there can give me some advice about where I should go from here. I am looking at buying V2's Ultimate Kit or White Cloud's Cirrus 3X Kit. Any advice, opinions or comments about either of these companies would be much appreciated, as well as any suggestions for something better. I'm not really worried about cost, so much as quality.
Thank you to anyone who takes the time to help me, help my dad.
