Good morning Crew:) My Dad went in for back surgery yesterday, and had some complications. When the surgery was over, he couldn't breathe on his own. They had to reinsert the airtube, and the Dr. thought that he may have had a minor stroke while in surgery. The surgery was done by 3pm, and my brother didn't get to see him until 7pm. He called me to tell me that my Dad looked like he was in REALLY bad shape, and told me that I should get down there.

I got to the hospital @ 8:30pm, and my brother said that he looked a lot better than he did @ 7pm. It was still a scary thing to see him that way. He was responsive, had feeling, and knew where he was and what had happened, and was communicating with us by using his hands and trying to write things on a notepad. They were taking him for an MRI last night at 9:30pm, and said that it would be 1.5 - 2 hrs. before it was done.

I left @ 10:30pm because I knew that we wouldn't find out any specifics until the morning. My brother texted me @ 3:50am and this is what he said...."He's back to perfect!...Talking, eating ice, etc. ....NO STROKE either....Everything Excellent! This is GREAT news to wake up to!....and I'm getting ready to go down to the hospital to go see for myself, how he's doing. Just wanted to let y'all know.

Good morning crew!

That sounds like one scary night you and your family just went through. Lots of good vibes going out to your Dad for continued good health.

Something sounds a little fishy to me though. Almost sounds like somebody messed up something during the surgery. Something very similar happened to my Mom while she was in the hospital one time and the doctors couldn't explain what happened. The following evening a nurse discreetly came to us and told us that one of the nurses gave her the wrong meds in her I-V but asked us not to tell anyone that she told us that. Fortunately our Mom was ok after this took place so we never pursued it.

The important thing right now is that your Dad is doing ok. ALWAYS cherish your time with your parents. There are so many things I'd like to ask mine and things I'd like to say to them.
