So i got caught up in the whole watt wars thing back in 2015 and switched to sub ohm vaping...and to be honest I have no idea what sort of health risks I'm creating by vaping high wattages all day (not to mention I spend $100 every 2 weeks on juice!!)

I've decided to make the switch back to mtl vaping...the last time I was vaping this way was with a kayfun lite..I'm curious whats out there now if anything for mtl vaping and what is recommended...I'm also interested in a new mod as well (looking at dna 75's mostly)..would like to stay under $250 for mod and top.

Any and all recommendations are appreciated as well as maybe any comments from others who have switched back to mtl from direct lung vaping.

While I'm more of a sub-ohm vaper, I do use mtl, low power mods as well. Now, this might sound funny to some, as the tank and mod are a bit outdated, but I absolutely love my original Aspire Vision Spinner with an Aspire K1 tank. I have a Nautilus X, but I still prefer my K1 over it. As far as more updated mtl devices, I couldn't tell you. But sometimes, oldies are still goodies.

With non stock coils the Kanger Emow (Aerotank) and the Mini Aerotank are also great MTL devices which cope very well with my PG free Juices. So does the Cubis Pro Tank with the LVC 1.5 ohm coils.

When the Subohming began, I was so concerned that these tanks will be lost (the Kangers), that I bought a whole box of them and still have 9 in their original packaging :)

MTL RTAs there have been a couple just recently, one namely the Siren looks very interesting, pbusardo also gave a good thumb up on it.

As far as a decent DNA75, my Hcigar VT75 has done me well, mainly a 26650 but has a sleeve adapter to allow running an 18650 instead.

I feel I just gotta suggest the Nautilus 2 as a great choice for a modern (fairly new on the market) MTL tank. It has great air flow options, a top fill filling method, plus more flavor than the Nautilus or Nautilus mini. That's just something I couldn't fail to notice.

Hi and thanks for the reply, I did take interest in the Siren and saw Phil's review, but also noticed on a review on vapordna that they were no longer coming with the little air restricter sp? that makes the draw a little tighter. I will check out the Hcigar VT75, battery size doesn't matter If it's good build quality and dependable as well as looks good to me. :)

I still love my Kayfun lites (have 4 going). Also the Aspire Nautilus and the Joyetech Tron-S with a CLR coil. The CLR is easily rebuildable as well. But hey, I still use a couple of Protank IIs.

Have you tried any of the newer kayfuns? I was looking at the kayfun v5 as a possible top

Hi and thanks for the reply, I saw some good things about the Nautilus 2, I bought the original wayyy back when they first came out, not sure if I want to go back to factory coils though, but may consider it as a back up.

The K5 is not a MTL device. There's an adapter (sold separately I believe) that kinda-sorta turns it into one, but from what I hear it still isn't great for it. The K4 and Mini v3 are still pretty popular though. I'd probably have one of those if I didn't already have three perfectly good Lite+ clones.

No love for the Kanger TopTank. I have one, use a 1.5 ohm coil and the airflow cut way down, does a decent job. Was using a Kabuki w/ Nautilus coil, but got a Baby Beast with that top fill which spoiled me big time. Gotta have top fill. I like the Baby Beast with a .6 ohm coil @ around 26 watts, but got busted at work (e.g. guess I vape on my way to the ash tray). Never had an issue when I MTL, not that I was blowing clouds, anyways think I'm going to break out my TopTank w/ a 1.5 ohm coil for my return to MTL..

What don't you like about the Kayfun? I feel you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who left them behind. Newer versions (the K4 and the Mini v3 I mentioned earlier) have glass tanks and top-fill, which are about the only two faults I can find with the KFL. Unless one just doesn't like MTL vaping, but then why are they here?

I am not fond of the Subtank (which I believe is essentially the same as the Toptank, just without the top-filling?) for MTL. Yeah you can choke off the airflow, but then it opens right back up again as soon as you get inside the chamber. By the time any air actually reaches the coil, it has slowed to a crawl. Doesn't provide much cooling, and you end up with a real hot vape. I find that for a decent MTL experience, you really need a focused jet of air pointing right on the coils. Kayfuns are great for that, with their tiny little chimney holes, right underneath the coil. These big open sub-ohm tanks don't really accomplish that; the Subtank, for example, has a big wide air opening beneath the coil. Great for wide open lung hits, but closing it off at the AFC ring doesn't increase the airflow velocity across the coil at all, it just means there's less of it. Of course, your mileage may vary.

I was in the same boat! Bought a Nautilus 2 and an iStick Pico and haven't looked back since. I've used that setup faithfully since the Nautilus 2 launched on MVS. Occasionally I'll take a pull on my RDA but it's usually to test a Diy liquid.

I use to vape alot of kfl's but needed a tad more power and slightly more AF so I went to the kayfun mini v3. It's an awesome tank but holds only 2ml, but for me it's a non issue. I can vape at 25 watts no problem and because of the juice control vape hi vg juices. True mtl tank and is worth looking into.

I am not fond of the Subtank...

Your right about the Subtank not being tuned for MTL, more of a stop gap, I'll have to experiment. Have a Kayfun v5 and mini too, but really like the convince of pre-built, and always had issues with leaking, etc. (e.g. w/ v5 anyways, probably due to my bad building skills)...

Thought about the Nautilus 2, but don't really like the 2ml tank. Thought someone mentioned something about an extension, but I couldn't find anything searching the internet. Found an extension for Nautilus X, but seems like it would have same type of tuning issue given the elongated chimney.

Guess it is time to play again or should I say blow some more money... :)

you hit the nail right on the head with the plastic tank....the mini v3 may be an option...the k4 i think has too many parts.
