I'd like to attempt re-building coils for several atomizers (different clearos and a phoenix RBA), however the only batteries I use at the moment are eGo-type... no APVs yet. One of them (eGo-VV mega) may or may not have short-circuit protection, but I'm pretty sure the rest don't. So I bought a DMM, but I have a couple of questions just to make sure I don't screw this up. :)

1) I plan to wind a wick+coil and install it in whatever atomizer base I'm using, then test it with the DMM. A short would read "1" (not 1.0), correct? (this is the same reading when the leads aren't touching anything). If it reads somewhere within what I'm expecting based on the # of coils I wrap, then is it safe at that point to put it on an eGo battery and vape away? Or is there something else I need to check?

2) Not exactly related to rebuilding coils, but.... I have quite a few 1.8Ω stock coils here (three different brands) and every single one of them measures 2.2-2.3Ω. Touching the leads together only gives me 0.1, so (subtracting 0.1) the atomizers themselves are reading 2.1-2.2. Is it possible that every one of these is off by the same amount? Or is it more likely that my DMM just can't read something as low as 1.8Ω?

Thanks!

a short would read 0 or close to it, 1 that doesn't change would be infinite resistance. most coil heads are off considerably. (they are actually rated in ranges) you meter shouldn't have any problem reading that low. Make sure it is set to the lowest resistance setting if it is not autoranging.
