MVP 2.0 Coil Question

I just got the MVP 2.0 about two weeks ago. So how do I know when the coils need cleaning or replacement? It seems like it's harder to get a good hit now. I think that is a clue.

Also being new should I start at low ohms and low volts and work my way up?

The dealer I bought from,Vapingtown2013 is a eBay seller if anybody knows him. And he said the 16D bottom four wick coils are in his words"way better" and I should think about getting those from now on. When my 16's give out. Your advice is needed please.

I just order from Him sunday, so I haven't received it yet. With my e-juice, my clearo (gs h5) last about a 3-5 days before I have to clean them but after about 3 cleaning, the head needs to be replaced. Don't know about the settings on the mvp yet but I was going to use the 1.8 ohms clearo and set the volt at 3.7-4.2 at first.
