mvp 2.0 thread issues (ugh!)

Hello! New member here! I've been stalking the forums for awhile now and learning a lot! Starting vaping, oh about December 2014. I went from 2 packs of analog cigs per day to about 6/day. (tougher to quit all together when the live in smokes at night lol) Thrilled with it and really enjoying trying different ejuice and investigating and learning. I currently have an MVP 2.0 mod, and using a Nautilus (Aspire - mini). Now keep in mine I'm a massive chain vaper when I ask this...but I notice issues with both my Aspire clearomizers. I can't tell if it's the MVP threading that is off - or if it's one of my tanks, because I'm having difficultly screwing my tank on. Started with one of my tanks, and I thought maybe the pin wasn't depressing enough to be able to screw it on properly. I thought "gee, glad I have a 2nd one..but now my 2nd tank is being 'iffy' as well. Am I just using the hell out of my mod too much? Possibly stripping it by changing tanks often? Does anyone even know if it's possible to buy just the bottom attachment to the aspire nautiluses and/or has anyone had this issue with the MVP 2? (Would love to buy another mod - but not sure which one...meanwhile dealing with this is making me panic. I hope it's not the mod! I don't want to return to smoking but low on funds. Appreciate any input!

Hello and welcome to the forum Diane. Glad to have you here!:)

If you are having problems with the battery firing, then most likely the center pin of the battery is not making a connection with the atomizer of the clearomizer/tank. This usually occurs from over-tightening the tank onto the battery connector. Just make sure that if you use something conductive (metal) to pry up on the center pin that you do NOT hit the fire button while you are working on the battery. Or better yet, turn off the battery.

Examine the threads closely on the MVP and the tanks. They are very thin and prone to stripping if overtightened or cross threaded. Clean them with a q-tip and some alcohol. You may have to use something like Noalox which is like a nonconductive grease and lubricant. Do you have the actual MVP 2.0 or the 20 watt? The 2.0 has the 510-ego thread adapter built in and the 20 watt has a removable one. You really have to be careful with the threading on most all devices.

Also, you can find just the Nautilus bases, the 5 ml and mini, on line. Evape.us has them. :)

I'll have to check that out! Thanks for ALL the replies! The battery is firing - it's just the tank doesn't want to thread onto the mod. I'm always careful with this thing lol. It's just weird that both tanks would do this within a week and I'm really hoping it's not the mod itself. I'll have to see what I can manage to do tomorrow. One of the tanks won't go on at all...just not connecting, so likely the pin. I'm going to clean everything well tomorrow and see what happens. Wish me luck!

I'm also looking to get another mod so I'm going to read through the forums to see what's usually suggested for newer users with the MVP 2. Thanks again!

IIRC the MVP2 has a brass 510 connector and is prone to striping of the threads. I don't know if the later models of the MVP changed to a stainless steel 510 connector or not.
Another mod that is similar to the MVP is the eleaf istick, I do not own one, but from all I've seen the istick 30 and istick 50 are good mods and have stainless steel 510 connectors.
Good Luck

I would say look at the MVP 30W. That's where I'm going next. Plenty of power and a great company. There are other more powerful devices out there in the same price range but none in my opinion can stand up to Innokin's reputation for quality and longevity.

That's exactly what I'm looking into. My only worry is that the 30 will strip as this one did. It's weird too - because it seemed like it went from fine to stripped in one day, and I'm gentle with this stuff.

If you get a istick 30 get a folding adapter like this, it will save your threads i havnt taken mine of since i got it.

Good idea. I actually was checking the specs on the istick and it says stainless steel thread - which is good. But I like the pass thru ability to vape while charging (sometimes I'm up late at night a want an extra hour before bed..and my battery is going lol) which the MVP gives. I'm looking at the comparisons now. Like the idea of the adapter. Heck if I can get the adapter in the MVP I have now, I may be in luck lol

Can't hurt to try an adapter. If I can get it on, then the tanks will go on and off - but that's IF I can thread an adapter on. The istick says stainless threads...at least on the 20. I'm looking at istick 50 and still comparing. (like I said, I'm new to the whole thing but learning a bit more thanks to this forum and just the internet in general.

So Im' assuming here that the MVP has a 510 thread - so I'd need a 510 510 adapter (as was mentioned in another reply)??
