I feel the exact same way Jeff. I want to try my hand at everything and see what I like, and see what I love. It's more than just getting a nicotine fix for me, it is just plain ol fun and it tastes great when the conditions are right. Thanks for the feedback and I'm sure you'll be seeing a whole lot more of me around the forum :)

So I decided to to rebuild the Rocket I use on my MVP and took some photos along the way:

The coil: 28ga Kanthal, 2.2mm ID (a piece of coat hanger), 9 wraps, shooting for 1.5Ω

I keep the bit in the coil as I mount it. In the case of the Rocket and it's tiny screws, I like to wrap the leads around the screw once to secure them. My kayfun lite clone it's not as much of a problem. Position the coil so that the open ends squarely face the juice wells.

Coil mounted, with leads trimmed.

I prefer the coil a bit higher for better air flow.

Testing the resistance on the MVP. Got what I was aiming for:

Test firing the coil before wicking:

Wicked with CVS organic cotton balls. I could care less if the cotton is organic or not, but I've found this brand has a nice consistency for wicking.

After wetting the tails with e-liquid, a test fire.

I position the tails up, and then carefully install the chimney base.

Gently tuck the tails into the wells, but do not over pack them. I've found it works just fine to cover the liquid channels in the base. Basically, I reposition the tails downward and fan them out to cover the floor of the juice wells. This has always wicked well, with no dry hits, or flooding. I use one of my vast selection of small blue screwdrivers for this task.

Vapes like a champ and is wicking well as confirmed by the nice little air bubble I get from each liquid channel after a vape.

Beautifully done on the tutorial VaPreis! Thank you so much for the pics and taking the time out of your day to do such a great job on helping me! I thank you. On a side note, I was supposed to get my MVP 2.0 today and there was a problem at the Austin Texas sorting facility, so now I have no idea when I'll get my mod :( I was so excited for today to... Soon enough I guess. Good things come to those who wait.

My pleasure. Hope it helps. :)

FWIW, I do that same style build for my mechs, only changing the wire gauge and wraps for a lower resistance. With the same coil ID, I use 26ga with 8 wraps for about 0.9Ω.

So do you think I'm going to experience problems with the Kayfun clone I've purchased? I figured I do my first coil at 28g kanthal using a 1/8" drill bit and do about 7 wraps to achieve 1.4 - 1.5 ohms. If the 28g doesn't seem to be suiting my needs, kanthal is cheap an I can always just buy some 30 or 32g. I'll put the 28 on the back burner till I invest in a mech Mod with some serious wattage on a high drain bat. I fully intend on using organic cotton for my wicks. I hate silica and I've heard mixed reviews about the wire mesh.

Tell me what you think about my idea for my first coil when I finally get my supplies.

I'll tell you what, if you are patient enough, and are relatively proficient with mesh, its the cleanest, most enjoyable, least problematic vape I've EVER had on that dang Russian. Like I probably said before, I've always been plagued with issues using cotton, and the ONE time I ever tried silica, I got a dry hit so bad it almost put me on a stretcher. I was dying lol. But the mesh...

SO clean of a vape. Far more durable than cotton. It seems to be a bit of a variable vape though. The vapor production will be fantastic most of the time, but sometimes, it'll be low. Flavor is always good. The ohms were jumping around quite a bit when I first did it, from 1.6-1.9. Seems to have stabilized at 2.0 as of today. Vaping at 4.2 volts and its a toasty vape. Very warm.

I would highly recommend 28 gauge for kayfun style attys. They seem to perform best with a microcoil, and honestly, every build I do now is a microcoil (wires all touching). With 32 gauge, especially if your wrapping around a 1/8" bit like you and me do, your ohms will be too high, especially for an MVP2, and certainly too high to be reasonable to use on a mech. I've actually seriously considered getting 26 gauge, because I like to have the heat distributed across a large surface area. Too many wraps with 28 gauge, and ohms are 2.4. I don't care to go higher than that on any of my devices. 11 wraps of 28 gauge on my RSST gives me 2.4 ohms, and that microcoil is around 1/2 cm in length. Or 1/4 inch. Its big lol. And vapes like a train. I would like to think the same principle would appy for the kayfun. If I did 26 gauge wrapped 12 times around a 1/8" bit, I would hope for something like 1.6 ohms. But I don't have 26 gauge yet so I don't know

I got off my lazy .... and finally clean it, and built it for Mindflooz. From the looks, it's 1:1 copy of real Svesto Kayfun lite plus, I have one to compare. Edges wise, it's not refine but little sand paper will take care of it (that my preference). Threads are good after cleaning it.

Channels work well, no burn hits...and I used it in Clone Chi You mech to make sure..so you're MVP 2.0 (10 sec cut off) should be fine..

It vapes very well and the flavor is excellent, and I doubt my build is any different or better than tutorial that presented here on this thread.
Overall, Ehpro KFun Lite plus is excellent buy esp with added bonus tubes which btw did not come with my authentic one...

Edit: it does have tighter draw compared to real one..but that didn't really bother me

I slowly torch the length of my wire till it glows. And when I'm done wrapping the coil, gently compress the coil with small needle nose pliers and torch it till it glows again. That will tighten it up.

Sent from my recliner with a spatula

Thanks, I've got some ceramic tweezers coming from fasttech. For some reason I can't get the coil off of what I'm wrapping it around and to the tweezers without it all coming apart.

The Trustfire is okay, but the charge times are incredibly long.

I'm in love with my Efest LUC 2 bay charger -- charges even the Efest 35 amp 2600 mAh batteries in about 2 hours or less. On the Trustfire I have, even the AW IMR 18350 600 mAh takes 5-8 hours to charge. It's still chugging along after 8 months, but I am so glad I bought the Efest LUC.

Just rotate between charging your MVP2 and the 18650s, so you always have something charged :)

My TR001 is pretty good. Takes about 6 hours I think for an 18490. I only use a Provari though, and I have 3 18490 batteries, so they're always in rotation between being charged, being in the device, and being fully charged- ready to be in the device. Works fine for me. I do kinda want one of the nice nitecore chargers though

I'm not so much concerned about the charger as I am about your opinions as to the other gear (MECH MOD & BATTERIES) I bought and it's usage with the ELPRO Kayfun Lite Plus :)

The SONYs are solid batteries, from what I am told. Aside from the AW IMRs, I just picked up the EFEST 35 amp 18650s. Not that I sub-ohm, but it's good to have just in case ;)

The Nemesis clones are mostly spot on (HCIGAR), from what I hear. I have an HCIGAR Sentinel M16 from 101Vape and after a quick fix for the button (unscrews during prolonged use -- a dab of cotton fixed it), and I'm loving it. Nice and solid.

The EHPRO Kayfun Lite + is wonderful. I also have a Tobecco KFL/Russian 91% clone, but like the EHPRO KFL+ clone better, just for the slightly deeper juice channels and extra tanks included. I had some dry hit issues with 50/50 liquids in the Tobecco clone, but not with the EHPRO KFL+. Oh, and the EHPRO clone uses better screws -- the Tobecco uses rounded-head screws that make it difficult to build (pushes the wire out when screwing down).

Just make certain to clean everything before use. Nothing worse than machine oil when you vape. ;)

Thanks Jeff, I feel like I might have made some pretty good choices in my mechanical Mod purchase as well as my RBA. I'm thinking of buying the magnet kit to replace the spring in my firing button on the nemesis, any thoughts? Lastly, is there anything in particular i should use to clean the Kayfun with (when I first use it), alcohol, water, etc....?

As with everything, i.e. the button switch, try it out. If it's not to your liking, there is the magnet kit available from several sources.

RE: Kayfun clone (or any atomizers/tank/Juice delivery system): wash it in either alcohol, such as vodka or everclear, or soapy dishwater, DAWN is preferred since it cuts oil and grease really well. I use the DAWN method, since I don't own alcohol. Soak it for an hour, rinse, dry, test for residue (and blow through the airholes), if needed, soak some more, repeat. Just want to make certain to wash away any machine oil or metal shavings from manufacturering that might be left behind. Don't forget the driptip! That was the worst offender in my last order -- the KFL+ clones and 2 new driptips and all driptips were gunky and nasty even after soaking. I had to roll up some papertowel and thread through them several times, repeat.

Hopefully some of your vapemail arrives today!
