I made this from a $2.00 Alum. nitroglycerin pill can from Wally world.
It runs on a 1000mAh 3.7v CR123 with a 510 atty. A little felt liner in the can so the battery doesn't rattle. I put the battery in button side down and the spring is in the top so that it is easy to change the battery. Just unscrew it and drop the dead one out and drop the new one in, screw it back together and it's good to go for another 4 hours.

(and yes I now know that it looks just like MadVape's "VapeStack")
but I made it before I saw theirs,,,, building it,, that was the fun part.

This pic shows it with a 510 mega and mega cart. I now use it with a polished LR510 and Alum. drip tip.

I made the top from a 1" alum. bar stock that I had. The stock can lid was toooooo short for the switch, spring and atty connector. And I don't have any way to cut threads this fine onto the top. so I cut the lid down and pressed it into the top that I made. I have been using it for about 2 months now and only have to change the batteries about 3 times per day.

My next one will be a VV mod. (parts on order now). I haven't nailed down the batteries for it yet. leaning towards a 7.2 volt 4000 mAh cam-corder battery.

Nice mod! So your cap fits over the fob's cap?

Yes,, kinda. I don't have a photo so I'll try to just explain it. Not being able to cut this type thread is a common problem.
the original cap's top has a flange that is the same OD as the can. It also has a stem in the center where a key ring goes. I chucked the cap's stem in the drill press and with a wood bit (fostner type) clamped into the press's vice I kinda made a lathe and cut the cap's flange off even with the bottom of the threads. Then drilled out the top of the can's cap , but I left a small lip inside it to keep the spring's insulator (blank PC Board) from going up inside the cap that I made. On the cap that I made I drilled a step cut that the threaded part would now just barely press (read "press" as pound) into. Wala, instant threads for my can's new top.

poland, and the brassy lands of google
My, this really is like a vapestack, even down to the pc board. If it is anodized, that will mess up conductivity too, especially in the threading. Delicately roughing them up with a needle file or even a knife will get enough of it off to make solid contact, if it is indeed aluminum.
