...luckily it didn't end up in her mouth. It was left on my desk with the lid on it, but she's good with bottle caps. We spent half of the day watching her for nicotine toxicity, terrified.

I implore anyone who makes juice to PLEASE use bottles with child safety lids. I have no illusions that this was my fault, but even non-idiots make mistakes, and this one could have killed my little girl. I would gladly pay an extra dollar per bottle to cover the extra cost.

If not for people's peace of mind, do it for business. One poisoned child and (FDA or not), e cigs are dead.

I've thrown out the offending bottle (again, not blaming anyone but myself), but I think I'm going to stick with pre-filled carts for a while.

Well at least everything turned out okay. Child-proof bottles, in my opinion, are not really that great. But it is still better than nothing. Keep it somewhere high or far out of her reach in the fridge. If you do that, then you will have no worries. It might be an extra step for you to do when you get off the couch, but it is worth it. Especially when you hear stories of close encounters such as yours.

How scary! Glad my kids are a little older, and able to understand a warning. Still, my juice, except the bottle I'm using, is under lock and key. Do you remember Mr. Yuk? Or is it Mr. Yuck? Anyway, Maybe you can tell her about him, and put stickers with his green face on your stuff. Hard to scare little kids, though, who have no idea what illness/death really mean. And tragedy can happen so quickly.

A pre-filled cart would be pretty easy for a child or pet to chew open.

I've got three shepherds and I'm very uneasy about storage. I'm keeping everything in an otherwise unused bathroom where we keep the door closed.

If there are any sellers reading this; do you have product liability insurance? If not, a tragedy or just an unreasonable customer could destroy your business, maybe your life.

when my little girl was around 2 , I came in the room to find her with my pain medication bottle open with her playing with them on the floor

its one of the rather strong pain medications , so a child proof cap in mandatory at my pharmacy

needless to say I had a massive panic attack , made sure nothing was in her mouth or residue and counted every pill out of 210 , did the math and much to hearts content concluded that not one was not accounted for ..being the type of medicine it is one would have prob killled her

she got it out my sock drawer , it was in a sock hidden ..as to make sure no one would find them and possible steal them ..how she got the bottle open is still a mystery

the FDA can kiss my ... , how about making better child proof bottles , or pills that dont look like candy or vice versa ..

dont feel too bad about your situation ...the same could happen with the nic gum , a nic patch or and if i remember right our pediatrician told us when our daughter was born that one ciggarette could make an infant extremely ill and possible death if ingested

Symmetric I am so glad that your little one is well and that no harm was done.
Many vendors currently use childproof caps if yours doesn't find one that does - please remember as parents we hold the ultimate responsibility of keeping poisonous substances out of reach of children and pets. I highly recommend using a lock box as high shelves and child proof caps usually will not prevent an inquisitive child from getting what they are after.
Treat eliquid and cartridges the same as you would prescription medication or dangerous cleaning supplies.

All of my E-Liquid is kept on the Top shelf of the Medicine Cabinet...When my Three year old Asks what my PV is...Its Daddys medicine(Kids don't like Medicine) I'm scared to death that she will come in contact with it in some way..i only refill over the bathroom sink and wash everything afterwards...

I agree Child safty Caps should be Required...I THINK TW ships their E-liquid in a sort of Medicine bottle type thing...and i don't see why EVERYONE doesn't do this...Facts are the FDA is trying to prove that these things are dangerous...Even ONE slip up will give them the RIGHT to shut this whole thing down...

+1 for Child safety Lids!

I have been looking for small bottles with child resistant lids and have not found them. They seem to be only for large ml bottles. If anyone knows of a source for them please post it. This really is a concern! TIA

I doubt there's a parent among us that hasn't mis-judged their offsprings ability to do what we try so damn hard to prevent. That this incident turned out well is great!

And there's probably more than a few parents among us that can sit back and chuckle about the aftermath that's surely taken place in Symmetric's home.
Additional child locks, on EVERYTHING
New wall shelves 'bout 2 foot from the ceiling
Wall safes for that matter......

I know. Been there.

Keep lovin' em' Symmetric, so happy all is well :D

The bottom line is that no child this age can be left alone.. anywhere.. anytime. My mother gave my then 10 month old son (now 34) a child proof bottle with buttons in it to use as a rattle.. he opened it. Child proof is not enough - high places are not enough - hidden is not enough. No baby or toddler should be left alone any longer then it takes you to pee (and hurry that up too!) - this is what playpens are for. Between medicines, cleaning supplies, nicotine, perfume (son got into that too - note: Ipicac is not fun), glass items that break, electrical sockets, stairs, and on and on... you can't childproof the world or even your home. Keep kids safe with a watchful eye, a playpen, and child gates.

As responsible parents we must NEVER EVER leave our e-cig, juice or any of our vaping products anywhere our children can get to them... like we wouldnt leave our bottles of prescription meds out or nail polish remover, we even keep our cell phones and ipods put up so our kids wont 'damage' them lol... so it only makes more sense to keep poison out of their reach.... these things must be kept well out of reach of children :) a no brainer

glad everything is ok..........but 90%of 2 year olds can open childproof bottles. Houses are filled with bleach, ant poisln, rat poison, ammonia, gasoline and 100's of other poisons that aren't childproofed.(including toothpaste). Child proofing is a state of mind. You have to convince them to stay away and lock it up and keep it high. They will find it and they will open it. Plain and simple
