What a journey!! Who knew 2 years ago (this month, don't know the exact date) that this "e-cig thing" would actually HELP ME QUIT SMOKING or how many different devices I'd try to get it done?? vaping for two years...wow...and it all started with this "free trial offer":
Smoke51-TRIO-2Battery-Starter-Kit_medium.jpg

(mine only had ONE battery and ONE atomizer and ONLY cost me $179.something ) I believe my first post here at ECF was in the "Beware of free trial offers!" thread.

Then there was Arno/Awesome Vapor. What a GREAT guy! He got me all hooked up with this little kit:
AV510kit-320x320.jpg

Which was much much better than what I was currently using, but still...I was smoking AND vaping...it was working, but it wasn't working well enough. :glare:

I then discovered 510 cartomizers. *throws streamers*, but man, I hated charging/changing those skinny batteries all day! :glare: Still, it was getting better! :D *more streamers*

THEN I won an eGo kit in a PIF contest, donated by PIF member blkeyedsusan (thanks again Claire! :)). Wow, holy better battery life Batman! 650mAh...it was GOOD, cartomizers were GOOD...but what's this??? Mods?? :w00t: Well...I must have a mod!

My ecig pen pal (seriously), ECF member poytim, made me this little beauty:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/87267225@N00/4613005791/ http://www.flickr.com/people/87267225@N00/
And you know how I roll. :glare: I promptly broke it. So he made me this one:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/87267225@N00/4937453595/http://www.flickr.com/people/87267225@N00/
:D
It rocked and I love it and 900mAh was the shiznit, but I was STILL smoking. :( I needed ?something? more...

Enter my dear friend Lox...with his 5v vaping magic. Lox sent me my first 5v mod to "try":

http://www.flickr.com/photos/87267225@N00/5271328209/http://www.flickr.com/people/87267225@N00/
And I bought it from him and promptly bought another 5v mod...and QUIT SMOKING! I was a year in at that point...and I'm just one month shy of being tobacco free for a full year!

After the Turbo and the Mako there were/are many mods in and out of my life. Some that I've owned:

Etc.

The mods are ever changing, but one thing that ISN'T CHANGING IS THAT I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO SMOKING AGAIN!!!

It's been 2 years of trying stuff and getting it all figured out (until the next great/new thing comes along! :glare:) and finding a way to make this work for me. And it has.

Thank you FRIENDS/ECF/PIF/Vaping/Classifieds  for sharing this journey with me and making me a non-smoker!

WaHOOoooOooooOoooOooooOoo! what a ride girl!

I'm so glad you've taken pictures of all your, er, um, personal vaporizers - goodness some look like they need D size batteries (wink) And a YEAR SMOKE FREE!!! So excited for you!

And you ARE the definition of PIF - I have a beautiful HOG mod sitting here waving at you (but it's happy here and in safe hands! No sidewalk jumping up to grab it!)

Knowing that you're at 1 year smoke free means that you might have changed the family tree for your daughter - you'll KNOW if she starts smoking because you'll be able to smell it and bust her on it! Non-smoking parents have a less than 15% chance of having children who smoke vs 75% for smokers. (old study btw, no idea what current numbers are)

SO congrats and THANK YOU!!!

It does my heart good to read this, for two reasons...because you are off the smokes, and because it encourages me that eventually I can put the stinkies down and vape 100%; I'm still struggling with the smoking...I know vaping is the answer but I'm going to need that 5V kick, I think. Maybe with a Christmas bonus....

Anyhoo...congrats Chelle and thanks for sharing your story, it is an encouragement!

Really near the mexican border.
That's great Bianca, I love to see your pictures, I never thought of taking pictures of any of my personal vaporizers, ever. They are quite personal for me; it seems you are the mod queen and good for you.
I am and have been very grateful for all your support and conversation. I am happy that you are now a year smoke free, that is awesome.
I just celebrated a year tobacco free last June, so congrats to you.
I haven't been able to keep a box mod (plastic) working ever, because I must roll like you and I break every single one. So I stayed with the eGO passthrough's presently, It seems they can take a bigger beating than most and I am so hard on them.
Do the wood boxes have a longer life span than the plastic ones?

Yep, new one arrived today! I had a black one ages ago, but it wasn't the vari-cool as this one is and the batt life wasn't so good for me, but this newer version lasts a bit longer and I really like it. I have a white one too, I got it from my friend/enemy, the ECF Classifieds., but this one is new, bought for me as a trade for another mod:

GREEN Vari-cool VV Little Sister from Ken's box mods.

Laura, you're nicer to your Hog than I am to mine...I'm sure it's much happier living with you. I think while it was here #10 told it what I did to it and it was very very scared. :p

Thanks for the replies everyone, I really appreciate each of them. Putting down cigarettes has been one of the hardest things I've done...and I've not lived under a protective rock. I loved smoking. I didn't want to quit smoking. I knew I had to. Never ever would have happened without vaping/ECF/PIF. Never.

Michele, yes and no to the wood mod question. Yes, they are tougher than the plastic boxes, but they CAN be broken if dropped. I know first hand. It's all about force really, and how much of it goes into the dropping . I kinda had to throw mine and it went quite forcefully into pavement. Not pretty, but fixable. I also have just dropped them from being clumsy and nothing at all has happened to them. So...basically, don't throw it down and you should be OK. YMMV however. I've dropped my white LS on every surface you can imagine, door goes one way and the body of the mod goes the other way, batts scatter, drip tip sails through the air...but it's never been broken...so, it's all up to chance I suppose.
