I got into vaping over a month ago and became hooked rather quick, farewell analogs. I grew tired very fast of the small batteries so I made my first mod. It can either be powered by 3 Energizer AA-NIMH 2300 mah batteries or I can remove the batteries and direct connect it to a USB or my 5v power supply. All thanks to $10 and the local Radio Shack.

It really is simple. Buy the Battery enclosure (4 AA), pushbutton switch, 6 volt light (3 in a pack) and size M coaxial DC plug (male and female). Take the box apart and rearrange it so 3 batteries fit as in my picture. The hardest part was CAREFULLY using a dremel to cut a 510 connector off a battery, I stress carefully so you do not hit the battery (or go the easy route and order one online). The positive from the battery goes to the switch. The second side of the switch goes to the light and the center of the 510 connector. The ground ties into the other wire of the light and the outer part of the 510. The DC plug is optional, hook it to the positive battery and the ground. The way I did it you CANNOT use the 5 volt while the batteries are in or you will damage the batteries.

Congrats, and this is 'way cool. However (and not to be a naysayer here, but...) there are a few things it's good to avoid in modding, even if one has a good background in electronics. (ex: not recommended to use lead based solder, etc.) Anyone who's gonna get into this sort of thing would do well to check out the "Mod" section... lots of valuable information there.
