Hello, everyone!

I'd just like to preface this by saying that this isn't exactly a question, unless someone can offer an even better solution. So, if this isn't in the right section, my apologies, I'm rather new x)

I've been having serious problems with my Aerotank these past few weeks, and until recently I didn't even know what the problem was. I think I've got it figured out, but I feel like the Aerotank is simply too awesome, and this problem is so deceptive, to not get this info out there.

Simply put, the tank shorts readily (had it for 4 months, and it was a hand-me-down), and is frustrating as all hell, because Google is full of Aerotank struggles. Most of them solve the problem by switching the base with a Protank 3 base, but that's like surrendering to the cruel gremlins that live inside my battery. BUT, I've learned after tinkering that there are two things going wrong here. Primarily, the post connecting the atomizer and the battery cants itself and shorts the connection. To make this problem worse, when I screw the tank back onto the base, the atomizer is actually screwed down even tighter than when I screwed it on. So, as Dixie's Vapes taught me, tightness of the coil is snug, not bending metal. XD

My solution, albeit a spurious one: affix the base to the battery, then screw on the atomizer super loosely, then screw the tank on. That way, the atomizer is "snugged" indirectly (if only indirectly in the sense that you didn't screw it down directly), and the the bottom post doesn't go all cattywampus.

Hope this helped some people, and again, apologies if I'm in the wrong place. :)

In my experience the problem you are talking about is actually a problem with the base itself.

The Aerotank base isn't a single piece, it's actually two pieces pressed together that are held in place by nothing more than friction. If you spin the airflow adjustment ring about half way up and then pull on the top and bottom parts of the base hard enough it will separate into two pieces.

If these two pieces are loose or slightly misaligned then the atomizer head tends to short or not have a good connection because it's not pressing down on the contact pin straight and tight. Install the tank on your mod and then look at it carefully while rotating your mod around and see if the tank tilts off to one side slightly. If it does then the atomizer part of the base is crooked and that is what is causing your shorts.
