OK..........first of all thanks all for the replies. I have been vaping since April. I buy 98% of my flavored juices from Vermillion River (really good stuff). As with a lot of folks I thought the juices I wanted to vape would be mostly tobacco but within the last couple of months I'm going for the sweet stuff with the exception of Minnesota Menthol and Alien Vision's Boba's Bounty. Younger people have a much better chance of recovering a larger percentage of their taste buds than someone at my age so I think my pallette has recovered as much as it's going to recover. I started out with 808s from a variety of vendors with prefilled cartos then went on to commercial juices with which I am overladen!! Now I find I'm ready to "roll my own", so to speak and am having (0bviously) some problems with proportions. The program that my attachment reflects is ejuicemeup" which allows for inputting a lot of information and then it gives you the formula. I haven't used any of their premade formulas and find that in most cases it doesn't allow for variations among which brand of flavoring is used. My quest at this time is to find a rule of thumb that is fairly simple to understand and use for mixing. My work background was totally IT which required a lot of problem solving at the speed of light which apparently has leaked into my vaping habits. Thanks everyone for any ray of light that will get me on the correct path.:)

I have the syringes, pipettes, nicjuice, PG VG, empty bottles, flavorings..........all that jazz...just waiting for something I try to actually work.

Lulu, the numbers on your screenshot are accurate. So, how did you get these? It doesn't matter whether you use one flavor or two or three, you're still trying to accomplish 20%. That 4.17 ml of nic base is way off. This is from your original post of the one flavor cheesecake tasting so bad.

Just one flavor added....cheesecake ..... 4.17ml nicjuice, .92mlPG, 2.92ml VG and 2ml Cheesecase flavoring to make 10ml @ 10mg @ 80/20 PG/VG.

I agree that Cheesecake, by itself, isn't very good. It needs something like caramel or pralenes and cream to go with it.
That aside, my early approach to DIYing was "more's law". If a flavor is good, more must be better. I used to read recipes that other people had posted, and when their flavors were at 14%, I figured it would be even better at 20%. NOT SO! If you don't believe it, try making caramel cappuccino by using 20% TPA caramel capp. flavor. I guarantee you won't be able to stand it. With me, everything had to be 20% total flavor, regardless.
I have since learned that often times, less is better. Make test batches, with individual flavors; so that you'll get to know the nature of each flavor.

I agree with Rule 100%

I just started myself and was even starting as low as 10% (what I thought was low at the time). Truth be told now I always start at 2% and 1% for any tobacco & menthol. I mix a 3mil batch and test it from there. Everyone likes different levels of flavor so you just need to find the right amount for yourself.

Hi All........so I'm back with some questions. I ordered twice from Capella and think I bought most of the basic flavors. According to one of the earlier posts I was supposed to pick a flavor (ONE flavor ) and go with it. This I did today using syringes and all the required gear for accurate measurement. The "juice" I made was this for 10ml of 70/30 @ 6% of caramel. I used 2ml caramel; 3.33ml PG; 3ml VG and have not added PG nicotine yet. All measurements according to ejuicemeup. I put the finished bottle in a 2 cup measuring cup of hot tap water until it reached room temperature. I then brought it back to the "lab", put it in a gutted carto, took a hit and nearly coughed up a lung. Question now is - how long do I need to let it steep before trying to test it again or do I need to add more PG to mellow it out a little bit?

Caramel is a hard one to get without adding other flavors, it's more of a compliment flavor. You can go ahead and add more PG since you already know the flavor is too strong.

I just reread your post. You haven't added your nicotine in PG yet? If not, adding that will lower the flavor considerably so you may not want to add more PG yet. First pull out a 2 mLs of your made caramel, add 1/5 of your nicotine amount but use only PG. Now taste test it. That will give you a better idea of how it will taste once you add the nicotine in PG.

OK.............much better with the added PG from the nic. Couple days in a cool, dark desk drawer and it should be good to go. I just never think about the obvious solution to anything. Working in IT all my working life I always went for the worst possible scenario (which usually worked out to be true) but maybe I can break myself of that habit. Thanks again.
