Hey again folks. This may very well be my last started thread on ECF (though I do intend on staying around to comment here and here) and not out of any discontent but rather the end of an interesting journey.

When I first tried e-cigs 3 years ago as of Sept. 1st, I was thrilled at the potential it had. Even when I got scammed by some youtube hack and bought the wrong (and expensive) device for me, I thought that it would be the one thing that could free me from tobacco and to be honest it has.. For the most part.

There have been a couple slip ups here and there... Such as the postal strike where I didn't have a proper supply of juices and most recently when I popped my second atty ever while at work (without a backup atty). The vaping gods have been frowing upon me and I have been suffering from a lot of headaches and a very sore throat for what would seem no reason. I won't say it is vaping but I have my sneaking suspicions.

I have seen it go from 510 to eGo, eGo to big battery mods, feeders to tanks, etc etc etc. This stuff is all going at such a pace now it is neigh impossible to absorb it all anymore. I am already stuck in my old ways vaping Cisco 510 atomizers and dripping like I used to years ago now.

You see, I thought I was freeing myself from the clutches of tobacco... But the nicotine and the flavours and the world of discovery and inventiveness grabbed a hold of me and I have been vaping now for 3 entire years.

I have to admit all the flavours have started to taste the same, like nicotine and something candy-like. I try to switch up juices now and again but I haven't truly had my favourite juice since VST stopped selling his juice line oh so long ago. I have to quit, it isn't an option for me at this point. I am finished with this journey and need to move on.

All the freinds I have met I intend to keep. That goes to all of you. I just won't be vaping anymore. My plan is a little extreme but very simple. I am going to decrease my nicotine by 1 mg slowly over the next few months until eventually I no longer have any nic at all. Then I will put away my kit and mods and if I ever get the urge to smoke, I will pull out the e-cig and have a jolly old 1 mg vape for old time sake every once in a while until I have to huck the juice.

I know it is said; "Once a smoker, always a smoker." but after 3 years with vaping, I would have to say my true love IS vaping. I am unsure if this attempt will be successful, but it is genuine. I want to be addicted to AIR and nothing else for a while. A life without addiction is something I haven't known since I was 9 years old and I have to get there sometime. The time is now.

Once a vaper, always a vaper :vapor:

Good luck, I hope it goes well for you !

This is my eventual plan as well, but I'm giving it another year - since I haven't been vaping for that long. I find it hard not to get even more addicted to the myriad of juices and hardware, than I ever was to just cigarettes - but I don't want a vaping hobby/addiction.

From everything I've read people can drop 2-3 mg at a time, but it takes a good 2 weeks - month to adjust or they start having problems. Someone on here also posted that it was much harder to quit vaping 0 mg juice, than it was to quit from a low mg. Results are going to be different for everyone, but it might take a bit of trial and error.

I think the same advice applies for quitting vaping - don't get discouraged. :)

Edit: Another Canadian (DevilFishPhil if I remember correctly) said he petitioned for this sub-forum to be added; http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/zero-nicotine-vaping-quitting-vaping/ which might come in handy.

I have friends who are quitting smoking and don't want to use e-cigs. This obviously is the best outcome, I have tried many combinations to quit before, and was successful for differing lengths of time. I made them promise that if they ever weakened in their fight to be free of nicotine, that they would choose e-cigs rather than cigs.

I ask you the same, and I know you are better able to consider e-cigs as the alternative rather than smoking.

I'll try to join you in a couple years. Relax, Enjoy!

Funny, I haven't been here in ages and tonight I stop by and see your post.

I feel the same way you do. It's been 1 1/2 years since I quit smoking and started vaping and it's time to put it away. Although I am doing pretty good just vaping now and again more out of boredom and habit. Got to learn to do something with my hands. LOL. My health has done a turn for the better and I feel like I can give it up.

You will do well my friend. If not this time the next.

Well, I'm in the boat of not seeing too much of you around on the forum, but I wish you all the best in your drive to quit. No addiction is good for you, and when it's time, it's time.

I don't know if I'll ever be in your place as far as actual vaping is concerned, because it's just too fun, but I'm definitely on track as far as phasing my nic out gradually is concerned.

Then again, I never thought I'd be able to give up cigarettes either. Guess we'll just have to see.

Either way, I wish you nothing but success.

I'm on my 24th day vaping (signature needs to update LOL) without an analog even once or a thought. Vaping in my eyes has been a blessing for myself and from what I see many others, due to the fact I'm still fresh idk when ill quit or if i ever will, i enjoy it so much, I have to admit the current setup i have is getting boring (Ego Twist/T2 Kanger) but I'm working on getting into DIY ejuice and mods galore haha, I'm learning theres a whole new world of vaping to explore and i plan to hit every inch of it. I agree its not something I should do forever but if it wasn't for my ego id still be smoking, I started @ 15yrs old and am now 32, attempted many many times using EVERYTHING under the sun and this is the only tool thats worked. I wish you all the luck in the world but if your anything like me and the rest of the ECF community it'll be very hard, my advice is make sure your devices are fully charged, there all freshly set up and ready to drop a few mls in when or if you get that urge to smoke, prevent having an analog at all costs, think of the outcome, remember how it all started....Keep a setup and a few mls ready at home, your car, in the work place, shoot if you drink at bars even get one ready before you go lol.. Just remember its a hell of alot easier to get an analog when your having a nic fit so whatever you do make sure your prepared!!!!
In regards to never coming back to ECF why not? Use the site as your support group haha, think how much help you got to quit smoking from ECF, think of the support you'd get to quit vaping, all the advice you have to offer to us etc...Everybody needs support to quit any type of addiction, and to be honest theres no place like ECF!! this has got to be the absolute best forum Ive ever been to, theres times i wonder if I'm the only human on here and you all are just a computer, or the only other explanation is ECF lured every nice person in the world to its site haha.. Anyways what I'm getting at is if you find its hard you may want to continue your involvement on ECF for the support. I wish you all the luck!! I hope it all worx out for you and remember STAY AWAY FROM THOSE STANK STICKS!!! haha...............

Heya bud, doing the same. I am down to 12mg now (remember I used to vape 36 lol) and the next batch I am cutting to 6mg. I am cutting by half each batch but I keep a second pv with higher nic just in case at times... 18mg is my strong one, so even that has been getting cut back and will be 12 next time...

I stopped worrying about the fancy crap. I use a couple pt's and simple setups. my gf quit smoking and takes hits on my pv all the time. I have to get her a setup this next order... another person that loves my double chocolate.

you've got my email, so drop me a line. I'd still like to do some online music collaboration. I have a few songs recorded that need parts added and all proceeds are going to the canadian cancer society. I'd like to release before the year's end, distribution is already in place

Received my shipment of flavouring and my Nic is soon to arrive later today. I have some Capella flavourings (generally that is my favourite) Banana, Peanut Butter, Sweet Tangerine and the last of them is Spearmint, which smells like toothpaste, lol.

I'm gonna make myself some Elvis juice with the PB & B. That combo is about as good as it gets for me and I will likely master the recipe and tweak it a little when I get another order of flavours.

I'm thinking a good Watermelon Menthol would be right up my alley too... Should have bought some :)

To be honest <cough> whenever I read this thread I wonder why someone who wants to quit vaping has stocked up on so must juice/nic. I wish you all the best on quitting. Vaping is still an addiction so why not beat any addiction. I'm not even close, but I never was in the first place :). I understand that you feel the need for a good stash of back-up in case. I, like all or most of us, make sure I'm always well prepared to not be without my vape in the off chance I need to resort to the disgusting taste of a cig to get me by.

But if you're really quitting, then why the juice purchase? Just saying. Nothing personal, hey if we can't get the dilemma then no one will.

Pls excuse the runaround post, 1.5 pints of beer, too much overtime and too late...

I believe you have missed my intention with the nic juice. I have a lot here because I plan on cutting down slowly.

I have known how to DIY for years but have been "lazy" and just bought pre-mixed juices from China, since I can trust its purity. Sadly, vendors usually sell 3-5 strength levels, generally 24 being the max and etc etc.

The step down in nicotine is too drastic for me that way (hell, going down to 20 from 24 is noticeable for me) and I don't want to be pissing around with finding the exact same juice in 0 nic to cut the ones I have down, because that is nearly impossible.

I am following the advice of my old buddy Switched and doing it DIY. Cutting back on nicotine over a period of 4-6 months.

I said I want to quit vaping, never said it was easy.

Good luck to you, but may I ask, why would one decide to quit something they enjoy?
is vaping unhealthy? is it becoming too expensive?

I have decided to quit because all of the enjoyment is pretty much gone. I don't go all weak kneed over a new flavour, all the devices look the same, the mystery behind "How do they do that?!" is long gone.

Honestly, I have spent multiple thousands on e-cigs over the last three years and I think that enough is enough. If I am not really enjoying myself any more and all vaping does is frustrate me, I have a considerable chance of relapsing to analogues if I don't quit now.

So I hope that makes sense to you as it does to me. Once the party is over you should pack it up and stumble home. It really was a wild ride.

Thanks for the clarification - you're right, I did miss your intention and therefore it didn't make sense to me. I thought you were quitting, like bang, that's it, no more, right now kinda thing. If you're weaning yourself off slowly then of course the DIY juice order makes perfect sense :).
