My first 28 guage kenthal coil

So I have some 30 gauge kenthal, 100 ft. coming in the mail. My Russian tank needed a rebuild NOW so I picked a wire/wick kit at a local vape shop in town while I wait for my ebay wire and Japanese cotton. Being new to rebuildables, My only experience w/ setting up a coil is hooking up the pre-made 30 gauge coils on wicks that came w/ my Russian 91% tank. I've read here its recommended that beginners try using at least a 30 gauge wire, and now I see why. lol. Making the coil was easy, after reading all the info on this site. The only problem I had was getting the wire to stay in place while screwing the two different contact points down. The fatter wire kept wanting to pop out from under the screw CONSTANTLY. lol. Even trying to wrap the wire completely around the screws didn't work. The thinner wire (30 gauge) is much easier for me. Any way, I eventually got it, it registers 1.2 ohms resistance and hits like Mike Tyson. :) I've seen the tank decks that have the wire hole on the side of the decks w/ the screw clamping down on the wire from the top. That might be a better tank style for a newby like me. lol.

That's awesome, Bob! When I first started rebuilding, my B&M only had 28 or 32. I was only trying to rebuild my kanger heads to learn what the heck I was doing. I couldn't get much above 1.3Ω, and that didn't work well on my MVP. I now have kayfuns (clones), and still only the MVP. I'm playing with different builds (bigger diameter with the 28g), but you're right - it's a BEAR to get the ends screwed down correctly.

Keep building and keep vaping!
