My first box

Hey all, got my first box made up, and boy does this work like a champ! I wish I decided to do this a month ago! Thanks to all who helped answer my questions, I know it's basic but it was a tight fit getting the 18650 into a package this small, I had to make my own connector for the positive battery terminal out of thin sheet aluminum.

Dimensions: 2" x 3" x 1"
Power source: Protected 18650, 3000 mAh
Kill switch for safety
4.28 volt to the 901 connector with a fresh charge (loss in atomizer unknown)

Lol, I don't know if I'd go that far... I mean, after making this one, there's definitely a thing or two I would change as far as what I cut out of the box and how I cut the slot for the kill switch... and there is a gal in town I met on the boards who may want me to make her one... and I did kind of get in a rush while painting, and decided to skip airbrushing the design on the lid I was thinking of... oh crap, you're right

Lol, I was really surprised at how much more vapor this thing makes than my KR8 batteries do. As long as the atty doesn't wind up getting as hot as the connector did after I soldered it... and then accidentally hit it with my finger. 8-o Thankfully no real damage done there!

THREE days? I figured one, maybe two days max... That would definitely be awesome!

I just finished a new mod (Altoids "Mini") and am using a 2400mA 18650 and so far each fully charged battery is lasting me right at 2 days of steady vaping.

I like it, nice clean and solid with an appropriate switch. I've had great luck with those.

I would add a bit (more than a bit actually) of epoxy around your connector though for when you drop it... as I often have.

Also note I've some bad luck with those UF batts, their resistance is a bit high and the protection circuit is a bit twitchy and fragile. Don't let them run all the way down and place/remove them carefully with any spring loaded chargers.

For the budget minded this 18650 is a great choice, lower internal resistance (better for high current demands) and it's 2400mAh rating has been verified in tests as accurate. It holds up well in 3A drain tests.

Sweet mod Kobudo. And a power house with that monster battery. I just got my 18650`s and still need to build them a mod. But first I need to use some much smaller batteries for a much smaller device. Stocking the mail lady once again waiting.

If you are serious on airbrushing that mod. Please be sure to post the pictures. I`ve been playing with the airbrush myself off and on. Although a Connman I am but the Connartist is my sister. Seriously.

I was a lot more serious about it before I started wet-sanding after I primed it, and realized I was never going to get a "great" finish on this thing. Too many surface irregularities. It's always cool to have some artists in the family. I'm more of a hack than an artist, myself.

Kobudo, that looks really good. Clean. Is that a Radio Shack box? I've got an 18650 in one of those, I used these for the connectors-PC BATTERY CONTACT | AllElectronics.com. They work great. Also, if you get rid of the screw tubes, you can put 2 of those batteries in there with the electronics. Parallel them for a real long vape, or put them in serial & make a massive 5v box!
A tip, can't remember who told me this, but credit to them. Put a bad carto or atty on the connector when you're soldering the wires to it, it dissipates the heat a lot.

Thanks for the kind words Sci! Yeah, it's a Radio Shack project box. I left the screws on as they make nice anchor points for the rare earth magnets I have epoxied to the lid, for tool-less access. Also cool is that to the right of the battery, there is room for a spare atty isolated in carto condoms. Which is pretty convenient.

It's definately an all day vape. I use mine for my 'at home' vaping.Those rare earth magnets are nice. What kind of graphics were you going to airbrush on it? Just because it may not be as smooth as you wanted doesn't mean it won't look good!

True fire is awesome... Awesomer than I'm willing to put in the practice time on. I've seen a whole lowrider painted up that way once, it was a bit over the top.

Take a look here for some graphics to use for stencils-Custom Vinyl Graphics Stickers Flames Accents and Stripes Library. That one is all flames, here's one with other graphics & some pretty good info-Spraypaint Stencils.
Both have the graphics you can print & cut out.
