I ordered an 801 and after charging a batt all night, I selected one of the included carts labeled med, blew out the atty, inserted the cart and got instant vapor. I was expecting a horrible taste from primer but could slightly taste a sweet peach mixed with the taste of stage fog. I used to play in bands and am used to that smell/taste. The peach increased after a min or so of vaping.

After 3 hours, the flavor is going away but I am still getting vapor so I checked the cart and the top appears dry so I decided to try some sampler flavors I have. I opened a blank cart from JC and dropped in 20 drops of chocolate truffle and could taste it but vapor was slightly weak; no vapor seen on exhale. I have read most use 20 or so drops but I realize the 801 has a bigger cart so I counted more drops but stopped after adding 30 more! I am still not sure if it is full. I realize this is still new to me and I have to learn through trial and error, but all in all so far, this is awesome! From the first drag I immediately knew I would have no trouble moving from analogs to these.

After a few starter puffs and then letting it sit while I type this, I am know getting full vapor again. Very nice! This is exciting! Luckily I am working from home today so I can relax with this new toy. So far I have caught myself reaching for a lighter a few times and the realization I have quit smoking makes me panic a little but a few drags on the 801 works which is very reassuring. Hmm just topped off the cart again which worries me alittle as I have used 3-4 ml of juice in this new cart so far but I know there is a learning curve for technique to figure out.

I just wanted to thank this forum for existing and say you have another n00b convert. Hopefully my Silver Bullet arrives this week :)

Edit: Oh, one thing that is cool is I was worried about the flavors. I always noticed when I bummed an analog off someone who smoked a different brand that after smoking it, I still wanted a smoke as it didn't satisfy really with the taste being off. I started with what I am guessing is a peach flavor and now am vaping chocolate and am not really worried now about missing my tobacco flavor, these taste excellent! I know I am just starting and am in the honeymoon phase but so far, other than minor adjustments in habit, I think this is going to work for me. I am noticing and really like that I am taking 4-5 drags and then setting it down, I am not forced to smoke a whole analog just because I lit it. Vaper on!

Hey,

The "stock" carts that come with the 801 really suck. They do not do a good job of wicking the juice. If you vape hard on it, it dries the top of the cart while, if you pulled it apart you would find the bottom is wet.

Unless you do one of the cart mods (I haven't so I can't comment) I wouldn't bother that much with the 801 carts with stock stuffing. 3 drips on the atty, and 2 on the cart work great for about 20-50 puffs. After that repeat. Trying to soak the cart seems/works to me like dumping e-liquid into a bottomless pit never to be seen again (unless it comes out in my mouth)

Yeah, I agree with the panic being in the head. That is a good term, "head panic". Normally after 4 hours without an analog, I would be ...antsy by now but I am fine body-wise sipping away on my new e-cig. As with any new relationship, there is always adjustments, but you are right, so far it seems to be all mental.

Hmmm good to know about the stock carts. I do have a box of fluval. Maybe I will try the straw mod first. The empty carts that I got with a JC kit, are they stock as well? I guess I will try a drip or two as the cart I filled is acting similar. I hope my aim is good as the coil seems awfully far down this deep tube hehe.

As for the drop count, no troubles yet but yeah, it does seem like a lot.

I don't know about JC kits. Once your cart stops vaping, or getting less vape, pull the stuffing out. Mine are always dry at the top and wet at to bottom. Squeezing the liquid to the top works. Or flip the stuffing. Its just seems like a lot of waste to me, 20 drops in a cart get me the same vape as 6 dripping do..

Don't worry about your aim dripping into the 801. Hold it vertical and just drip. Gravity will guide the drip. When I sarted I wasted a lot of time, trying to aim my drip down the deep hole. The bigger problem is, to make sure you get a good drip. If you are trying to hard to aim, the juice will leak out of the bottle, making for a big glob rather than a nice clean drip, which can flood your atty.

Thanks for the tip, Props. Damn, my batt is blinking. I might have to buy a pack of analogs after all as from what I can decipher from the laughable English in the manual, it says to charge the batts for 12 hours for the first 3 charges and the second batt won't be ready till this evening :(

Still, a good start.

Edit: Wow, talk about perfect timing. The doorbell just rang and it was my 801 manual battery, charging adaptor, manual USB passthru and usb charger. YAY Me!!!!!

Not really sure how all this works, is there some configuration that allows me to both charge the batt and vape at the same time? I'll figure out more once I wrestle my way through this knot of bubble wrap. Ahh I see, cool! :) So I have a USB pass thru and a seperate usb charger, both for the manual batt. The charging adaptor is only for charging the manual batt on the auto batt charger?

Wow, the manual batt has a charge, this just gets better and better

Dripping on an automatic 801 battery set up isn't recommended. A sure fire way to get liquid into it and kill it quick.

The little straw modification will make 801 use MUCH better. You can find the directions here.

I use a plastic q-tip straw for mine. You can find a huge wad of them at the Dollar Stores (yeah for $1). ha. This will allow the liquid to wick down more naturally, and you'll use less liquid (no need for dripping then).

If you find you do want to drip, purchase a manual 801 battery. They're great. EastMall has them.

Forget that. From what I've read about Lithium Ion batt, they do not have a memory and can be used from any state of charge. The full charge, full discharge cycles only matters for NiCad (which you don't have) batts becaue they have a "memory" as to how they were charged.

Your cellphone will have a Lithium battery too. When was the last time your worried about "fully charging" one of them before you used it? The e-cig batts only cost 14 bucks, so even if I'm wrong, and it reduces the life somewhat, who cares..

My advice is if you use to stock batteries ALWAYS make sure one is on the charger and is charging. I find if I start the moring with a fresh bat, and the other on charge, I can switch them up all day, when one goes dead, and have a charged one all day.

So what is this manual charging adaptor for? charging the manual batt on the auto batt charger?

With your 801 charger the battery screws deep into a hole in the charger (i.e the batter is 1/4 in the charger).

With a manual batt, there is a button on the side. If you try to screw it into the charger, it will rip the button off the side. The adaptor screws into the charger, so that it sticks out of the charger, you then screw your batt on the adaptor, so its outside of the charger, and doesn't hit the button.

Make sure you ordered the adaptor if you plan to charge manual batts.
